Dubai: 97 upscale hotels under development, Berlin to be flooded with 10,000 new rooms.

A new top ranking revealed by Top Hotel Projects shows that Dubai is in no doubt about strongly increasing the numbers of incoming tourism.

With 97 upscale hotel projects under development the marvellous metropole of the United Arab Emirates is ranked on top of the 11 global cities with most hotel projects.

Although Dubai is still leading in terms of hotel construction, in Las Vegas  the largest hotel projects are still set to  open within the next two years. For this study tophotelprojects.com analyzed facts and data of over 4,300 upscale hotel projects worldwide.

Despite the credit crunch the hotel development business in the United Arab Emirates keeps doing well. For example the amazing ‘Dubailand' project developed by Tatweer / Dubai Holding will be realized with several large theme and event-oriented hotels.

Among the listed projects one still finds the ‘Asia Asia' hotel project with nearly 6,500 guest rooms scheduled to open in the coming years. With a new, large international hub for long-distance flights, Dubai expects strongly increasing numbers of business travellers and leisure guests.

With the new 828 metre landmark ‘Burj Chalifa', making it the highest tower on earth, Dubai became top of the tops. 

Top 11 Cities Worldwide with most Hotel Projects

Although the largest hotel projects you still find In Las Vegas, USA. Nevertheless with ‚only' 17 current hotel projects the Capital of Gaming is still ranked lower than Dubai.

But looking at the number of hotel rooms under development (31,100) and with astonishing projects like the Fontainebleau' resort (3,800 rooms) Las Vegas shows high performance in terms of hotel construction.

Hotel Managers in Germany's capital Berlin are more and more under pressure with currently 49 new hotel projects and 9,800 new hotel rooms.

The increasing number of upscale hotels such as the Steigenberger project (322 rooms), located near the to be built international airport BBI, forces an upcoming hotel room rate war.

The most prestigious hotel project is the construction of the first Waldorf Astoria hotel (232 rooms) in Germany's largest city – being part of the ‘Zoofenster' tower in Berlin City West.

And the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) even tries to establish the lifestyle hotel brand ‘Indigo' with  two additional projects (152 and 82 rooms) in Berlin (image right)
