Shanghai Disney Resort, The Walt Disney Company's first theme park in mainland China, has recently broken ground.
The resort is located in the Pudong New Area in the city, and will house several themed areas and a central green space of over 46,000 square metres for outdoor events.
Robert A Iger, President and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, has commented that the new resort will be authentically Disney and yet distinctly Chinese.
Shanghai Disney Resort, which will see an initial investment of approximately US$1.4 billion, is slated to open in 2015.
