
The 2009 Chain Restaurant Executive Compensation Study presents an in-depth look at total rewards for senior level executives in the U.S. restaurant industry.
The peer group for the 2009 Chain Restaurant Executive Compensation StudyŠ is comprised of 78 chain restaurant organizations in the U.S. covering 22 senior leadership positions.
Highlights of the study:
- Peer group annual revenue ranged from $7 million to $3.5 billion with median annual revenue of $207 million;
- Peer group number of units ranged from 3 to 11,925 with a median of 104 units (includes corporate and franchisee locations);
- 29% of the peer group organizations operate as a public entity;
- 71% of the peer group organizations operate as a private entity;
- 74% of the participating organizations operate under a single concept model while the other (26%) operate multiple concepts;
- Respondents covered four segments of the chain restaurant industry: casual (39), cafeteria/family (11), fast casual (9), and quick service (19);
- 46% of the peer group companies have a franchise component tied to their business;
- The median number of corporate employees for participating organizations is 3,675;
All survey data was received in August and September of 2009 and respondents were asked to report on most recent twelve months.
