The 7th Park Inn in Norway: Park Inn Steinkjer was signed and will feature 110 rooms and open its doors in Q1 2011.
"Norway is one of our most important home markets – with almost 6,000 rooms in operation, the country accounts for 10% of our existing portfolio", says Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor.
Park Inn is Rezidor's young, dynamic and colourful mid market brand which saw a rapid expansion during the past six years: Launched in early 2003 only, Park Inn today comprises more than 130 hotels with more than 24,000 rooms in operation or under development across EMEA.
Amidst the fjords and mountains of central Norway, the new Park Inn Steinkjer will feature 110 guest rooms, an all day dining restaurant, meeting space and parking. Adjacent to the waterfront hotel are two important attractions: a water park/spa and a gallery devoted to the work of the late Jakob Weidemann. Weidemann grew up in Steinkjer and proceeded to become one of the most influential abstract artists within Norway's modernist art movement in the 1950's.
The region was one of the Viking's most important strongholds and the site of religious and seasonal gatherings. As the Viking festivals ended hundreds of years ago, demand is now generated by a mix of corporate and leisure travellers. The latter drawn to area's impressive natural beauty.
