According to the Ministry of Tourism, data of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) revealed that during the month of January 2009 FTAs reached 0.49 million compared to 0.59 million in January 2008 and 0.52 million in December 2008.

Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) were recorded at US$941 million during the month of January 2009 compared to US$1.4 billion in January 2008.

The slowdown in FEEs growth rate was attributed to exchange rate variation and slower growth rate of FTAs.
