Jumbo Hostel will be the world's first hostel located in a jumbo jet on the ground.
In August 2008, the plane was towed to its permanent location near the entrance to Arlanda where it will be affixed at new concrete foundations.
The foundations and all ground works are constructed by Uppsala based enterprise ASFAB. The place is well chosen bearing in mind it's easily available with your own car, taxi, public transport, by foot or bicycle or by one of the shuttle buses from the parking places.
Arlanda will now have its first hostel, a necessity considering that 17-18 million travelers pass through the airport every year. Initiator and owner is Oscar Diös, longtime owner of a hostel and hotel in Uppsala. Arlanda will soon have a new landmark.

It's fantastic to turn the first sod after nearly two years of preparations. The jumbo jet, that has been idling unused at Arlanda since 2002, was purchased in 2007 and is now undergoing full reconstruction and renovation.
In December 2007 Sigtuna authorities granted a building permit for Jumbo Hostel at Arlanda and now the ground works are commencing at the entranceway to Arlanda, says Oscar Diös, GM and owner of Jumbo Hostel.
Arlanda will have a new attraction and an exceptional alternative for spending a night. It should suit many categories of guests, such as business travelers, families with children, young people and "experience seeking travelers", adds Oscar Diös. Already we can see a growing interest from travel operators and tourist organizations in Europe and the USA.
Online bookings can be made since december 2008.
