Nikko Hotels announces Jakarta expansion and name change.

JAL Hotels Company Ltd. has announced that Hotel President, located in Jakarta, Indonesia, has changed its name to Hotel Nikko Jakarta as of April 1, 2003. The name change was publicized in conjunction with the opening of the hotel's new building "Nikko Tower."


The hotel opened in 1972, as the first hotel of JAL Hotels Company Ltd. At its opening the hotel was called President Hotel, and later changed to Hotel President. Located in the center of Jakarta, the hotel hosts tourists, business travelers and local residents and is celebrated as one of the best hotels in the city.


The new 14-story Nikko Tower has 109 guest rooms bringing the total number of guestrooms at the hotel to 424. Guestrooms in the Nikko Tower are spaciously designed with a minimum size of 463 square feet for double rooms and 549 square feet for twin rooms. The tower also has five suites with kitchenettes for long-stay guests. Additionally, each guest room, business center and banquet room has Internet access. The hotel also offers five new dining facilities, which will all be opened by July. A new restaurant, "Mei," with room dimensions of 21,517 square feet, is expected to be the main dining facility of Hotel Nikko Jakarta, offering a new type of Chinese Japanese fusion cuisine.

The company plans to open the 305-room JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo on May 31, 2003.
