News emerging from one of Asia's leading luxury hotel companies, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, indicates significant changes to its top management is taking place.
Sources say that the well-known CEO Mr. Giovanni Angelini, who was responsible for the company's global expansion drive, has gone for extended medical leave and that the COO, Mr. Symon Bridle, has moved to take up a different position within the company.
In addition, there are talks that all Head Office based Vice Presidents will be re-assigned to continue their duties as a hotel based GM/VP. In the last week, several General Managers have also been moved around between different properties, both in China and other parts of Asia.
These changes, when coupled with the company's recent relocation of its Head Office, represent some of the biggest changes in recent years seen within the Asian hotel industry. Shangri-La's Hong Kong head office was moved from the Island side to the Mega Box located in Kowloon. |
