More than 25,000 members of the Lions Club fraternity from around the world will be gathering at the Impact Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok -for one of the largest international conventions ever held in Thailand.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Bangkok Metropolitan Administration(BMA) and other public and private sector organisations are all excited to avail of this long-awaited opportunity to showcase Thailand via the 91st Lions Clubs International Convention.

"The Convention promises to be another milestone in the history of our organisation. Lion Clubs is the world class organization whose members comprise of businessmen, professionals and community leaders from different countries. This event will enhance the perception of Thailand, which is the premier destination for international convention and will boost the growth of MICE in Thailand. We look forward to welcoming all delegates to Bangkok and Amazing Thailand," said Mrs. Phornsiri Manoharn, the TAT Governor.

Furthermore, as the host country, on 24 June, Lion Clubs Thailand has prepared a floral float under the concept of "Tribute to His Majesty the King", starting from Chulalongkorn University, Phyathai Road, and ending at the National Stadium, Rama IV Road.

TAT is supporting this event by hosting a "Taste of Thailand" party for delegates at Impact Muang Thong Thani on 25 June.

Thailand has hosted many high profile conferences over the years, such as the 20th World Scout Jamboree in 2002 (30,000 delegates), the World Congress of Gastroenterology in 2002 (12,000 delegates) and the 15th International AIDS Congress in July 2004, attended by a record 17,000 delegates.

The 3rd IUCN World Conservation Congress attracted about 5,000 delegates and The Royal Flora Ratchaphruek International Horticultural Exhibition in 2006 (recorded one million visitors).

Availability of convention and exhibition space in Thailand is at an all time high, and set to rise even further in the years ahead. This, along with vastly improving infrastructure and Thailand's geographical location advantage, has set the stage for major growth in the MICE business.
