Located in the heart of San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, the new hotel is next to the historic Brunswig Building (built in 1900) which originally housed the Brunswig Drug Company.

Walt Fegley, President of Reno Contracting, one of Southern California's premier general contractors, is proud to announce his firm's construction of a new Marriott Residence Inn.

The San Diego architectural firm of Awbrey Cook McGill has designed the new hotel. The firm's design incorporates brick and metal exterior finishes that replicate the materials used in existing structures within the historic warehouse district.

"The overall design of the Residence Inn reflects a trend we are seeing not only in urban centers but also in emerging suburban ‘lifestyle' centers – a combination of retail, restaurant and residential uses which represents a more environmentally responsible sense of urban planning," said Scot McGill, Principal of the firm.

With an impressive history of building biotech and pharmaceutical structures, office complexes and corporate campuses, Reno Contracting is continuing to broaden its horizons with the Marriott Residence Inn project. Reno's Walt Fegley noted: "In keeping with our market diversity and working with clients who are like-minded – having the same business philosophies and culture – Reno Contracting is delighted to work on this new hotel. We see nothing but a great future for this project, and we hope that this is the beginning of a long-term relationship with a great client."

Reno began construction March 13th on the 240-suite, 13-story hotel site located at Sixth Avenue and ‘J' Street, a block from the San Diego Convention Center and Petco Park. The extended-stay hotel will have more than 8,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and three levels of subterranean parking. The 121'-2", post-tensioned, concrete building will include a street-level bar and lounge, meeting rooms, banquet facilities and a rooftop pool and deck overlooking Fifth Avenue.

The hotel is scheduled for fast-track completion by November 2009. David Peckinpaugh, President and CEO of the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau, noted, "The new Marriott Residence Inn will provide yet another option for leisure travelers and meeting delegates in San Diego's famous Gaslamp Quarter."

Reno Contracting is a leader in build-to-suit construction with such award-winning projects as DiamondView Tower, located in the heart of downtown San Diego adjacent to Petco Park; as well as Santa Fe Summit; Biosite corporate headquarters; and Paseo Del Mar. Reno has grown to more than $217 million in annual revenue while gaining some of Southern California's largest developers as repeat clients. Reno Contracting continues to diversify its portfolio with hospitality and retail projects throughout San Diego and the Inland Empire.
