A New York experience and as for many visitors; this hotel is a luxurious launching point from which to explore the city -

For Manhattanites, it is a destination, with services and venues that have long made it a popular retreat. During your visit, we invite you to "think like a New Yorker" and enjoy the hotel's many delights.

As you approach the hotel on Park Avenue, whether you are returning from our Art Deco Walking Tour, a day of sightseeing, or a trip to Fifth Avenue (one of the world's most elegant shopping streets, two blocks west of the hotel), take a moment to explore the window displays that flank the hotel entrance. These fascinating vignettes detail the hotel's magnificent architectural features, such as the priceless murals and mosaic you'll find in the Park Avenue Lobby.

Around the corner on 49th Street are additional vignettes dedicated to the hotel's landmark history, from its original incarnation in 1893 to the construction of the current hotel, its rich culinary heritage and its storied suites. During your stay—perhaps on a sultry afternoon perfect for a soothing respite—we recommend these services and activities:

Park Avenue Lobby: Relax for awhile in the comfort of Cocktail Terrace, one of the city's favorite people-watching spots. You can also enjoy free wireless Internet in the Park Avenue Lobby, as well as in the Main Lobby.

Between Park Avenue Lobby and the Main Lobby, enjoy the oversized floral arrangement—one of the few such displays in the city. Let Rodrigo Braga or one of our other shoe shine pros give you a 10-minute quick clean, wax, and buff that will have your shoes looking like new (the shop also offers drop off service).

East Lobby: Just before the Main Lobby coming from the Park Avenue entrance, pop into Sir Harry's®, a Manhattan favorite for a cold beverage and some "bartender's wisdom." On the other side of this lobby is the Waldorf Museum. Through vintage photographs and memorabilia, learn of the celebrities and momentous events this "Queen of Hotels" has hosted in its 100-year reign.

Peacock Alley®: Off the Main Lobby, near the ornate, 1893 antique bronze clock, Peacock Alley is open throughout the day and evening, most days. Refresh yourself with Chef Cedric Tovar's artful small plates and a signature drink.

South Lobby: Through the corridor to the right of the Main Lobby reception desk is the Waldorf Gift Shop. This store offers handpicked items from our Distinctly Waldorf gift collection, tasteful gifts from fine retailers, and sundries.

Lexington Avenue Lobby and Entrance: On the Lexington Avenue side of the Main Lobby is the Wedding Salon, where beautiful brides plan their events of a lifetime. Directly opposite, the 1945 classic, Weekend at The Waldorf (the first movie filmed entirely on location in a hotel) plays continuously on a large plasma screen.

For an evening out or a simple cut, defer to the professionals at the lavish but affordable Kenneth's Salon, a "Best of New York" favorite.

On either side of the Lexington Avenue entrance is Oscar's® American Brasserie (the city's most bountiful buffet breakfast) and Bull and Bear® (serving New York City's best beef).

From outside the Lexington Avenue entrance, Bloomingdale's (59th St.), Jones New York, and others are just a quick walk away.
