Results from the same report also show that Australians continue to favour short-haul holiday destinations such as Singapore, Auckland and Christchurch which take the top three spots.

Several European cities are also emerging as favourite travel destinations with Paris leading the way, followed by London and Vienna. The availability of direct flights to London from Sydney and the easy connection to the other two cities is certainly a contributing factor to their increased popularity.

The data was collected from hotel bookings made from January to June 2007 by HolidayCity.com's customers.
