Holiday Inn celebrates 50 years in Greater China

As the first IHG brand to enter the region, Holiday Inn has been a trusted travel companion since the opening of Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hong Kong in 1975.

For half a century, the brand has been dedicated to delivering heartfelt hospitality and sincere smile. In 2025, Holiday Inn unveils a refreshed brand experience under its new proposition, “The Brighter Side of Travel”, continuing to brighten every journey for guests across generations.

To mark this milestone, Holiday Inn officially announces renowned actress Ms. Cecilia Yip as its brand ambassador. The 50th anniversary campaign invites guests to revisit joyful memories shared with Holiday Inn through a series of celebratory initiatives that honor the stories of guests and staff from the past five decades, deepening the brand’s emotional resonance across generations.

The 50th anniversary short film series, based on real-life stories, showcases the heartfelt moments experienced by business travelers, families, young friends, and the silver generation of guests—reflecting Holiday Inn’s thoughtful care for every journey. Meanwhile, the brand will launch a nationwide hotel exhibition tour, featuring interactive installations and curated displays to rekindle treasured memories and strengthen the bond between the brand and its guests.

Actress Cecilia Yip Joins Holiday Inn to Celebrate the Warmth of Travel

Renowned for her iconic screen roles, emotionally nuanced performances, and warm presence, Ms. Cecilia Yip has long held a special place in the hearts of audiences. Her sincere, heartfelt persona closely aligns with Holiday Inn’s brand spirit of authenticity, warmth, and thoughtful care—resonating with the brand’s legacy of connecting with guests across generations. Ms. Cecilia Yip is specially invited to star in the 50th Anniversary short film series, guiding audiences through her perspective to witness the genuine moments and heartfelt smiles that define “The Brighter Side of Travel” at Holiday Inn.

Ms. Cecilia Yip shared: “Holiday Inn has always had a special place in my heart. It’s not just a place to stay – it’s where smiles come from the heart, and where guests’ needs are truly understood. Whether during filming or while traveling, I’ve had many memorable stays at Holiday Inns across different cities. Brightening Up Smiles: A Celebration to Usher in a New Chapter for Holiday Inn

On June 10, Holiday Inn hosted its celebration at Shanghai Film Art Center. Brand ambassador Ms. Cecilia Yip attended the event in person to celebrate this significant milestone of the brand with guests. A special exhibition was featured at the venue, showcasing real-life moments of connection between guests and Holiday Inn. The premiere of the 50th Anniversary short films series also took place during the event – a collection of four heartfelt stories inspired by real experiences from business travelers, families, friends, and the silver generation—each based on real guests and staff members who were also invited to the event to share their authentic Holiday Inn experiences.

Mr. Jerome Qiu, Chief Operating Officer, IHG Greater China, delivered a keynote address reflecting on Holiday Inn’s remarkable 50-year journey in Greater China. He highlighted the brand’s unwavering dedication to its founding purpose—bringing people together—and its ability to evolve with the times to meet the ever-changing needs of a diverse generation of travelers. With people at the heart of its brand, Holiday Inn remains committed to brightening more smile-filled journeys for guests.
