First group in Australia to be publicly certified with a 1-star Green Star Performance Hospitality Portfolio rating.

  • Delivered its first regional sector leadership status and 5-Star rating in the GRESB 2024 assessment, affirming its industry-leading ESG performance

Frasers Hospitality, a strategic business unit of Frasers Property, announced that it has received a 1-star Green Star Performance (GSP) portfolio rating by the Green Building of Council of Australia (GBCA) for its owned portfolio[1] in Australia. Its commitment to raising sustainability standards across its global portfolio is also further affirmed by its recognition as a Regional Sector Leader in the Asia/Hotel category and 5-Star rating in the recent GRESB 2024 assessment.

First GSP-Rated Hospitality Portfolio in Australia

Frasers Hospitality’s 1-star GSP portfolio rating recognises the efficiencies achieved across a broad range of factors including water and energy for its owned portfolio in Australia, comprising five properties namely, Capri by Fraser Brisbane, Fraser Suites Perth, Fraser Suites Sydney, Novotel Sydney Darling Square, and Novotel Melbourne on Collins. Founded by the GBCA, Green Star is an internationally recognised rating system that sets benchmarks for healthy, resilient, positive buildings and places in Australia.

Aligning with Frasers Property’s Group Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Goals, Frasers Hospitality endeavours to elevate its portfolio and property rating in the coming years with further reduction in energy and water consumption through improved efficiencies.

Regional Sector Leader in GRESB

Frasers Hospitality has also recently attained the Regional Sector Leadership in the Asia /Hotel category awarded by GRESB with a 5-Star rating in the 2024 assessment. This is an affirmation of Frasers Hospitality’s ongoing commitment to improving the overall ESG performance of its portfolio. As a globally recognised industry benchmark, GRESB remains an important indicator of Frasers Hospitality’s ESG performance relative to its peers.

“The dual achievement of Green Star Performance portfolio certification in Australia and the GRESB 2024 Regional Sector Leadership award underscores Frasers Hospitality’s commitment to integrating sustainability throughout our portfolio whilst maintaining hospitality excellence. This marks a significant milestone in our long-term sustainability journey as we continue to drive sustainable and responsible hospitality development within our portfolio,” said Ms Eu Chin Fen, Chief Executive Officer of Frasers Hospitality.

Frasers Hospitality’s efforts are aligned with the 6 Group ESG Goals, which include achieving net-zero carbon by 2050 and having 85% of the Group’s owned and asset-managed properties be either green-certified or pursuing green certification by 2030. Frasers Hospitality continues to build a portfolio of sustainable assets as a key investment strategy and strives to reduce the environmental impact of its spaces for the benefit of current and future generations of travellers.

As of 30 September 2024, 81.9% of Frasers Hospitality’s owned portfolio by gross floor area has attained or is pursuing green building certification. These green building certifications affirm Frasers Hospitality’s commitment to design, develop, and manage hospitality assets responsibly, contributing to environmental protection and social sustainability outcomes.
