voco hotels, part IHG Hotels & Resorts' portfolio, made its debut in Tucson, Arizona last month, with the opening of voco The Tuxon, the brand's 71st hotel globally.
In collaboration with SVP Holdings LLC and Align Hospitality, the 112-guestroom hotel is located along the banks of the Santa Cruz River, just moments away from Downtown Tucson and the vibrant Mercado District.
This Desert Modernist gem reminiscent of America’s vibrant motor heritage offers guests a blend of vintage charm and modern comforts. Elements of brass, stone, and saddled leather throughout the property nod to southern Arizona’s cattle ranching heritage and mining history.
Upon check in, guests will receive a signature voco welcome treat – a Prickly Pear Cactus Candy, locally-sourced and emblematic of the Prickly Pear Cactus that grows in the Sonoran Desert. Thoughtfully designed guest rooms celebrate the hotel’s desert surroundings with finishes inspired by the regions American, Mexican, and Native American roots. The rooms will also showcase voco’s dedication to sustainability and will feature duvets and pillows filled with 100% recycled materials, along with bulk plant-based amenities.
At voco The Tuxon, guests are invited to dine at The Pool Bar, the hotel’s poolside restaurant created in collaboration with Michelin-star chef, Drew Record. Guests are invited to dine poolside and order from a menu that features local flavors for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also host happy hours throughout the week from 3-6 p.m.
While staying at voco The Tuxon, guests can also regularly enjoy outdoor movie screenings, tastings, Friday Night local musician spotlights, poolside Beats & Bubbles featuring a live DJ, guided stargazing in partnership with expert astronomers, or simply relax under the Tucson sun at the pool or in the hotel’s cactus garden, both providing a picturesque desert backdrop. Other amenities include a fitness center featuring Peloton bikes, and complimentary parking.
Carol Hoeller, Vice President of Global Brand Management for voco hotels and Hotel Indigo said, “This year has been significant for the voco brand, with nine new openings in the first half, pushing us past 70 hotels worldwide. We are a fast-growing brand, and our expansion across the U.S. is crucial to maintaining our upward momentum, so when the opportunity came about to open The Tuxon under the voco brand name as the first in region – it was a no brainer”
Vishal Patel, Owner, SVP Holdings LLC said, “We are thrilled to have The Tuxon join IHG Hotels & Resorts and the voco hotels brand. The new partnership aligns well with our commitment to offering guests a uniquely vibrant and welcoming experience to Tucson. This marks an exciting chapter for The Tuxon, enhancing our ability to deliver exceptional hospitality with a touch of local flair.”
In addition to its close proximity to downtown Tucson to the east, guests of voco The Tuxon have premier access to the American Southwest with hiking and biking trails to the west. Just miles from the hotel doors stand attractions like the Tucson Botanical Gardens, the Fox Tucson Theatre, Saguaro National Park and the Tucson Museum of Art, just waiting to be explored.
There are currently 71 voco hotels open across the world with an additional 79 in the development pipeline including voco Cuidad de Mexico and voco Ardez Hotel Sunnyvale opening later this year, along with voco Astoria expected to open in 2025.
