Taiwan has been a popular destination in East Asia with a majority of visitors from Asia, and the market evolves toward more diverse in terms of visitor arrivals and hotel brands.

The article features an overview of Taiwan hotel market and outlook, as well as industry insights from Hilton on the development of Taiwan market.

With the recovery of inbound tourism and robust growth of domestic travellers, the hotel market in Taiwan shows great resilience in 2023, surpassing RevPAR levels in 2019.

On the other hand, the landscape of hotel supply is changing in the past few years, particularly with an expansion and new entries among international brands. International operators have been aggressive in pursuing new deals in Taiwan.

With approximately 38,000existing branded hotel rooms from major operators, more than 10,000 pipeline rooms will be opening over the next five years.

Marriott is now the largest international operator in Taiwan, with more than 7,000 existing rooms and over 4,000 rooms in the pipeline, followed by IHG and Hyatt, which both have a strong presence in the Taiwan market, with over 1,000 rooms in the pipeline.

Additionally, several luxury brands will debut in Taiwan, including Capella (2024), Park Hyatt (2024), Andaz (2025), Four Seasons (2026), and Kempinski (2027).

“With the robust economic growth and increasing travel demand of the population in the region, the demand for accommodation remains strong. With Taiwan's thriving travel and tourism, high travel frequency and a growing influx of international visitors, we would say that the market has high potential to grow new supply,” says Nong Xia, President of Development, Hilton, GCM.
