Accor is excited to announce the Chinese debut of Adagio, Europe’s leading long stay aparthotels brand, with the signing of Adagio Chengdu Jianyang.

The 168-room midscale serviced residence hotel is planned to open by the end of 2025, in The Star Lane Urban Commercial Complex in Jianzhou New City, within the heart of Eastern New District of Chengdu. As the European market leader in the extended stay segment, with nearly 130 aparthotels in 16 countries, the arrival of Adagio will be a powerful driver for Accor’s growing portfolio of extended stay properties across Greater China.

“The opening of our first Adagio in Chengdu marks another step in our continued ambitious phase of expansion across Greater China and strategically coincides with growing market demand for extended stay hospitality and serviced apartments,” said Gary Rosen, CEO, Accor Greater China.

“With the support of our partners, Jianzhou New City Investment Group, we have an ideal opportunity to bring Adagio to the booming market of Chengdu, with its dynamic mix of business, tech, and academia, balanced with an abundance of natural beauty and a leisurely lifestyle. The Adagio brand will be an excellent addition to our diverse range of hospitality options in Chengdu and Greater China as a whole.”

The Star Lane Urban Commercial Complex in Jianzhou New City is an ideal location for Adagio Chengdu Jianyang. With its modern architectural design that integrates urban space and popular diversions, Star Lane will be a lively focal point of the community, offering entertainment, restaurants, shopping, and day-to-day conveniences. The complex is conveniently near Jili University and Tianfu International Circuit, while the neighborhood connects to the central commercial and business area of Longma Lake Central Activity Zone (CAZ), and the special commercial district of Linhe.

The area surrounding Adagio Chengdu Jianyang, at the core of Jianzhou New City and the Chengdu-Chongqing Development axis, is one of the most sought-after areas for investment and development. Eastern New District of Chengdu as a whole is experiencing an outstanding level of growth, with hundreds of projects under development including the main venue of the 2024 Chengdu World Horticultural Expo.

“We believe that Chengdu is the perfect market for the highly reputable Adagio aparthotels brand and we look forward to deepening our strong relationship with Accor through this project and beyond,” said a spokesperson for Jianzhou New City Investment Group. “The arrival of Adagio, the undisputed leader of extended stay hospitality in Europe, signals the next level of Chengdu’s national and global importance and we are proud to support this fast-growing community.”

At Adagio aparthotels, travelers will enjoy the comfort of an apartment "just like home", with the added benefit of hotel services. The aparthotel concept is ideal for medium to long stays, providing affordable and high quality hospitality for business and leisure travelers. Family-friendly and pet-friendly, the apartments of Adagio will feature a contemporary design in bold bright colours and will include the convenience of kitchen and laundry facilities. The aparthotel will also offer casual dining restaurant, lobby bar, meeting facilities, and fitness center.

The Adagio brand is committed to growing in a sustainable way, with each property reducing its impact to be more energy efficient and being a responsible citizen within its community. Adagio Chengdu Jianyang will have the advantage of being part of the Chengdu community that supports smart park city development – encouraging the integration of nature, ecological values, and a low carbon lifestyle.

In 2023, Adagio celebrated its 15th anniversary, with the opening of a dozen destinations across six countries. The brand aims to strengthen its position as a leader and forerunner in the extended stay sector, continue expanding internationally, and position itself as a responsible brand that supports community development. The expansion follows Adagio’s unveiling of a contemporary, vibrant new look and feel designed to entice modern travellers looking for a flexible yet trendy place to stay awhile.
