Mondrian Bordeaux will bring a unique experience to the city with its ever-evolving programming that appeals to the culturally curious and bon vivants alike.
Designed by Philippe Starck, the 97-room hotel is located within a 19th-century landmark that formerly housed the wine cellars of Maison Calvet.
For two centuries, the building stood as the beating heart of the wine trade in this area – crenellated bays framing the main entrance and coat of arms set above the arched doorway nod to the city’s historical commercial links with the British Isles. Now reimagined as Mondrian Bordeaux Les Carmes, the building once again stands as a beacon of beauty and excellence.
Drawing influence from Eastern and Western traditions, spaces flow and overlap in perfectly executed harmony. The soft, earthy colours naturally derived from the elegant local stone and brick and the organic motifs of the deep pile rugs and carpets are juxtaposed against the striking modernity of the rough concrete reminiscent of the former winery’s stores.
Japanese-inspired elements bring sophistication while the warm lighting courtesy of the lamps and lanterns set throughout the hotel acts as a unifying thread.
Rooms and suites at Mondrian Bordeaux have been designed as intimate spaces, bathed in soft, harmonious light. Several rooms and suites open onto leafy private terraces, and two of the hotel’s suites can be connected for exclusive events, giving access to a majestic rooftop terrace.
