In keeping with its expansion plans Moevenpick is now also breaking into the Indian market, with a management contract for a Business Hotel in Bangalore just signed with the owning company MS Ramaiah Hotels, a member of the MS Ramaiah Group. The 5-star hotel is scheduled to open in 2008.

The new development is ideally located in a prime business and residential district of Bangalore, only 30 minutes from the new international airport, which will also be inaugurated in 2008.

The Mövenpick Hotel Bangalore will offer 220 comfortable rooms and suites of the highest standard and modern business amenities. Guests will enjoy culinary treats in the main restaurant overlooking lush tropical gardens, the Indian specialities restaurant and the rooftop restaurant serving Mediterranean delicacies. The amenities are rounded off by a lobby lounge café and a bar.

A large area is set aside for conferences and banquets, with a ballroom and conference rooms for up to 1,000 persons as well as a business centre with state-of-the-art equipment. Other facilities include a spa & leisure centre and a swimming pool.

"Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is very well established in Europe, Africa and the Middle East and enjoys an outstanding reputation", says Kodandaram Ramaiah, Director of the MS Ramaiah Hotels. "We're convinced that the philosophy of genuine Swiss hospitality will also be enthusiastically embraced in India."

"The fact that Bangalore has a strong demand for hotels of this standard makes us extremely confident", explains Jean Gabriel Pérès, President & CEO Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. "We're delighted to have found a strong partner in the MS Ramaiah Group to enable to take this first step into the Indian market. We expect to be able to announce further projects soon, aimed at establishing our brand on a broader base in India."
