Union Investment acquires Hotel Barcelona 1882 from Partners Group
German real estate investment manager Union Investment has acquired the Hotel Barcelona 1882 in Spain, from Swiss private equity firm Partners Group, for €74 million (€407,000 per room). The 182-bedroom hotel, which opened in November 2018 under the Barcelona 1882 brand, is located some 450 metres from the Sagrada Familia, Spain’s most visited landmark. The hotel is being converted to a Radisson Blu on a 25-year lease, becoming the first Radisson Blu property in Barcelona. Union undertook the acquisition on behalf of its open-ended real estate fund UniImmo: Europa, marking the fund’s second hotel investment in Barcelona, after the 186-bedroom Barceló Raval which was acquired in 2013.

Ibervalles acquires Hotel via Castellana in Madrid from Millenium Hospitality
Ibervalles, the Spanish family office owned by the Isidro Rincón family, has completed its acquisition of the Hotel via Castellana, Madrid, from Madrid-based REIT Millenium Hospitality Real Estate, for €43 million (€189,000 per room). The transaction of the company Sociedad Millenium Hotels C220 SL includes the 228-bedroom hotel and 45 parking spaces which are leased to third parties. The hotel will continue to be operated by Barcelona-based Grupo Hotusa through their Eurostars Hotel Company, retaining the Crisol Hotels flag. The four-star hotel, located next to Chamartin train station, includes nine meeting rooms and a restaurant.

Aprirose acquires Selsdon Park Hotel in Surrey, United Kingdom, from De Vere Hotels
London-based real estate investor Aprirose has acquired the Selsdon Park Hotel in Surrey, United Kingdom, from Starwood Capital’s De Vere Hotels, for an undisclosed sum. The 200-acre parkland estate, located 20 kilometres south of London, features 150-guestrooms, meeting and conference facilities, a range of dining amenities, a leisure centre, tennis court, running trail and an 18-hole golf course. Aprirose currently owns and manages 21 four-star hotels and resorts across the UK as part of their QHotels Collection.

Edyn acquires its first property in Switzerland, the Hotel Ascot in Zurich
London-based extended stay specialist Edyn has acquired the Hotel Ascot, Zurich, Switzerland, for an undisclosed sum. The six-floor hotel will be converted to a “Locke” flag, Edyn’s lifestyle brand, with the opening scheduled for summer 2023. The property, located in Zurich’s Enge neighbourhood, will feature 80 studios and one-bed suites, a restaurant, a bar and coffee shop. This acquisition continues the rapid expansion of the Locke brand following six launches in 2021, in London, Cambridge, Dublin and Munich.
