Mövenpick Hotels has taken over the management of the 4-star Voile d'Or Resort & Spa, on Mauritius. The resort boasts 181 rooms and offers the discerning guest an ideal environment for a relaxing holiday in a paradise setting. Amenities include spacious rooms, first-class service, excellent cuisine, an exceptional spa facility and a wide range of sports, making this a unique resort in the Indian Ocean.

The Resort opened officially in November 2004 and from October 2005 it is to be run as the Mövenpick Voile d'Or Resort & Spa Mauritius. It is situated in an extremely peaceful location along the island's southern coastline, a stone's throw from the village of Bel Ombre. Mauritius International Airport is 45 minutes away by car.

All 181 rooms and suites have a sea view and offer the ultimate in comfort. The spacious rooms range in size from 55 to 76 m2 and are individually appointed; most have their own garden. The size of the suites varies from 80 to 250 m2 and the bathrooms include a whirlpool for complete relaxation. Guests in the premium category rooms may also enjoy the Colonial Club House with its library, business centre, swimming pool, bar and restaurant.

Besides three other swimming pools the Mövenpick Voile d'Or Resort & Spa Mauritius also offers a wide choice of sports and leisure facilities. The 500 m long private beach and the Marine Centre are the starting point for all kinds of water sports such as water-skiing, fishing, scuba diving and sailing. Sports amenities on land include tennis, volleyball, fitness and mountain biking. The 1'800 sqm Aldana Tropical Spa and Wellness Area is a particular delight: an oasis of peace and tranquillity with Turkish baths, hammam and a complete range of luxurious treatments and massages.

Culinary pleasures of the highest standard await the guest at the main restaurant with its varied buffets, the Sirocco Beach Restaurant right by the seashore and pool as well as the gourmet restaurant "La Maison Coloniale" with exquisite Mauritian seafood specialities and a particularly attentive service. Three bars including the Shahrazad Music Lounge & Bar, the resort's favourite meeting place, round off the offer.

The Kids' & Games Club is the perfect place for the younger guests and is under the supervision of professional child carers. Children are also served a Kids' Menu daily at 6 p.m. at the Beach House Restaurant.

Souvenirs are on sale at the Hotel's own boutiques, and at the Perfumery guests have an opportunity to create their own fragrance. A pottery shop means lots of fun for the young and not so young.

"With Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts we've gained a strong partner of international renown", says Veekram Bhunjun, Chairman of the Board of the proprietor company Salt Lake Resorts Ltd. "We know that the Voile d'Or Resort & Spa will now be in the best of hands, and we're convinced that the Swiss international hotel chain will run this exceptional holiday resort with great success."

"Mauritius is known as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean and for good reason: it is after all one of the most attractive holiday destinations around", says Jean Gabriel Pérès, President & CEO Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. "The Mövenpick Voile d'Or Resort & Spa Mauritius certainly enhances our portfolio, and we're particularly proud of that."

"With our experience in first class resorts we wish to contribute to the commercialisation of this marvellous hotel and destination", adds Bernard Granier, Senior Vice President France & Africa. "We're certain that families as well as individual travellers alike will feel very much at home here. And of course Mauritius is also the ideal destination for honeymoons and similar special occasions."
