Hot on the heels of its stellar first anniversary bash with the King of Soul James Brown, Hilton Kuala Lumpur has just been named Asia's Best Business Hotel according to the Travel Trade Gazette (TTG) Asia Media Group, publishers of Asia's leading travel trade newspaper TTG Asia.
The Award for Best Business Hotel is a major tribute for the Hilton Kuala Lumpur, given that the hotel opened its doors only a year ago.
Paul P. Hutton, the hotel's new General Manager said of the win, "We are indeed honoured to receive this highly-coveted award and find it truly gratifying. To know that one's hard work, talents and accomplishments are acknowledged and applauded by our guests and peers is both gratifying and humbling."
The Hilton Kuala Lumpur was the clear choice by some 7,200 of TTG's readers across 17 countries in the Asia-Pacific, who voted within a voting period of 2 months from mid-July this year.
Over the past 16 years, the TTG Annual Travel Awards have become the benchmark for excellence in the regional hospitality industry. A record number of readers responded this year, indicating that people take their hotel services very seriously.
The Awards were presented to the Hotel yesterday at the 16th Annual Travel Awards in Pattaya, Thailand, during the two-day Corporate Travel World industry convention and exhibition on travel and entertainment, organized by TTG. Now in its 8th year, the event brings together corporate travel planners, agencies and suppliers from around the region. Some 1,500 delegates from 39 countries attended the conference which culminates in the presentation of the much-coveted best-in-the-business awards.
Accepting the award on behalf of the Hilton Kuala Lumpur was the hotel's director for business development Nils-Arne Schroeder. "It could be easy to forget that this wonderful Award doesn't just recognize the hotel as a first-class facility, but it also acknowledges our management and staff who always go the distance for our guests," he said.
After an incredibly successful first year in business, the Hilton Kuala Lumpur plans to raise the service bar even higher in the coming 12 months. Mr. Hutton brings a wealth of experience to the Hilton Kuala Lumpur, including 22 years with Hilton Hotels—and a 2004 award as "Best Hotel Manager" from the Worldwide Hospitality Awards.
Commented Mr Hutton on Hilton KL's success this past year, "Apart from providing excellent facilities and a comfortable atmosphere, I believe the formula to our success is also reflected in the serious commitment of every team member towards delivering the Hilton brand, customer services and hospitality to all our guests and customers alike. We've had a great start and year and we hope this is an indication of greater things to come. Our achievements and successes demonstrate our winning formula. Backed with a great team, we look set for a bright 2006."
In its first year of operations, Hilton Kuala Lumpur has won the 5-Star Diamond Award from the American Association of Hospitality Sciences, bagged five awards at the regional Asia Travel and Tourism Creative Awards also nominated as the Best Business Hotel at this year's World Travel Awards 2005 ceremony and now voted as the Best Business Hotel by voters of TTG Asia. |
