Small but mighty, the Benelux hotel market post-pandemic

Investors are still keen to explore opportunities in a region that has historically punched above its weight.

Like the rest of Europe, hotels across the Benelux suffered from the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, with all hospitality establishments reporting exceptional declines in performance.

Hotels were closed, employees furloughed, and travel restrictions imposed. With a global vaccination rollout now underway, hoteliers in the Benelux are navigating as best they can to succeed in a post-Covid world.

In this report we explore which destinations fared better than others and how further moratoriums may be introduced across the region.

We also take a bird’s eye view on the domestic lending market and despite the hospitality industry having been shaken to its core over the past 12 months, how investors are still keen to explore investment opportunities in a region that has historically punched above its weight.
