Hotel direct bookings race closer to 2019 values ahead of summer demand

Hotel direct bookings continue to show resilience as the industry prepares for the summer travel demand, outperforming major OTAs and all other reservation channels.

According to extensive market research published in the 13th Edition of The Hotelier PULSE Report, Hotel Direct bookings in March 2021 reached nearly 60% of total bookings over the same period in 2019.

However, the top two OTAs - Booking.com and Expedia - closed March 2021 with under 30% of bookings over the same period in 2019.

As spring starts to blossom, so are we beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel: hotel bookings net of cancelations in March 2021 have more than doubled bookings over the same period in 2020, and April 2021 showed better occupancy than April 2020.
