The new 262-key Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge, located on the site of a former brewery, is filled with boozy nods to the past.

Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge cleverly draws on the history of its setting to deliver a fun and distinctive hospitality experience.

Marriott International’s stylish and playful lifestyle brand Moxy is celebrating the opening of its second hotel in Edinburgh.

Centrally located on Freer Gait on the former site of the renowned Fountainbridge brewery, this 262-key hotel boasts an enviable setting in the heart of one of the UK’s most-visited cities. The property’s design, service and offering channels the history of its surroundings in many ways – perhaps the most obvious of which is the presence of huge beer vats in the lobby, as well as the impressive array of local and international craft beers sold across its F&B outlets.

The hotel’s general manager Simon Garrow said: “It’s really exciting to bring something new to one of the trendiest up-and-coming areas of the city. There is nothing quite like it in the vicinity and we’re looking forward to guests and locals experiencing the origins of the site, with the quirky brewery theme running throughout the hotel.”

A truly unique offering
Perhaps the highlight of the hotel is the rooftop bar overlooking Edinburgh Castle, which incorporates a built-in cinema where guests can enjoy film screenings. Business travellers, meanwhile, can avail themselves of the property’s two fully connected meeting rooms, and fitness fanatics will be pleased to discover that a 24-hour gym and wellness centre has been incorporated.

Donovan Sumner, regional director of operations UK and Italy for operating company Hotel Co 51, said: “We’re proud to be opening our newest boutique hotel in the heart of Scotland’s capital just two years since opening Moxy Edinburgh Airport. Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge will stand out from the crowd as a place where guests can enjoy the latest high-tech features blended with fun and lively social spaces.

“The original brewery shut back in 2004 and building this hotel on such an iconic site is a real talking point. We look forward to working with Simon Garrow and seeing the hotel thrive using the experience and knowledge he brings.”
