Borders open, flights start, tourism gets going again, simple.
Qantas and Jetstar today announced they’ll operate more than 250 flights (48,000 seats) across five routes between NSW and Victoria from November 23, the date the border between the states reopens after months of closure due to Victoria’s Coronvirus crisis.
Contrast that to the present schedule – 10 return flights per week between Melbourne and Sydney, the only route currently operating between the states.
“Pre-COVID, Melbourne-Sydney was the busiest air route in Australia and the second busiest in the world,” said Qantas Domestic & International CEO, Andrew David.
