Taiwan implements an one week quarantine, the new global normal?

The Central Epidemic Epidemic Command Center said that the domestic COVID-19 epidemic has slowed down and is under stable control, short-term business people who meet four basic conditions at the same time can apply for shortening the time of home quarantine.

For the opening of international economic and trade activities, after many invitations to the relevant ministries and conferences, the 'short-term business professionals' have been completed From June 22nd, short-term business people who meet the following four basic conditions at the same time can apply for shortening the time of home quarantine:

  1. Persons declared to enter the country according to the command center.
  2. The number of days for staying in Taiwan is less than 3 months
  3. Business people who enter the country for short-term business activities (such as inspection, after-sales service, technical guidance and training, signing of contracts, etc.).
  4. The departure point is the country/region with low or medium or low risk of infection announced by the command center, and there is no travel history of other countries/regions 14 days before boarding.

The command center pointed out that business people who meet the above four application requirements should prepare relevant supporting documents, schedules and epidemic prevention plans provided by the manufacturer at the time of application, and must prepare COVID for inspection within 3 days before boarding. -19 Negative nucleic acid test report for inspection. For other non-applicable application conditions, if there are special business needs or other necessary activities, a case can be submitted for special cases; on the premise of the principle of reciprocity and the safety of the epidemic situation in various countries, simplified quarantine procedures can be negotiated with individual countries.

The command center further explained that if the business person who completed the application is from a country/region with a low risk of infection, he can apply to the local health authority where the epidemic prevention hotel is located for self-finance screening on the 5th day after entering the country; if it is a low-risk country It can be screened at your own expense on the 7th day after entry.

After obtaining a negative test result, you can apply to the local health authority to change to autonomous health management to 21 days after entry. During the autonomous health management period, you should still measure your body temperature daily and cooperate with the two-way newsletter to report the health status, and arrange according to the schedule Carry out limited business activities, and adopt a real-name system to record daily activities and contacts with people. Try to avoid going in and out of public places. When going out, strictly follow the entire process of wearing masks.

The command center stated that the above operating specifications are limited to short-term business people who enter the country. If they plan to stay (stay) in Taiwan for more than 3 months, they should still complete the 14-day home quarantine after entering the country. This operating standard does not apply. In addition, starting from June 17, non-nationals, people of mainland China, residents of Hong Kong or Macau, without proof of residence, shall not apply for epidemic prevention compensation.

Remarks: The following list of countries/regions with low and medium-infection risks will be adjusted in time according to the scale and trend of the epidemic situation in each country, the monitoring and inspection capacity, the transparency of the epidemic information, the epidemic situation of the region and the neighboring countries. (Rolling review every two weeks)

  1. Countries/regions with low risk of infection: New Zealand, Australia, Macau, Palau, Fiji, Brunei, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Thailand, Mongolia, Bhutan.
  2. Countries with low or medium risk of infection: South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore.
