With the arrival of the first Langham hotel in the Middle East, The Langham Downtown Dubai with its 2020 opening, the company is currently exploring opportunities in the region.

"Langham in Downtown Dubai is scheduled to open next year with 167 rooms, and it's a nice entry for us and the location is great. Because we only have two brands, Langham for luxury and Cordis, we think we're going to have more Cordis hotels later on in the future," Vivienne Gan vice president, global public relations, Langham Hospitality revealed.

She added, "For Langham we need to be in the top cities, and then the top locations in those cities, for Cordis we can be a little more flexible. (Upscale, above the mid tier) Then there's also the Langham in Jeddah. We find that this region is getting more exciting. Everyone talks about how this region is getting saturated, but they said that five years ago, and they said that ten years ago, but if you look at this place and you see the luxury players that have come in."

However what makes Langham certain that there are opportunities here is that airlines are increasing their routes to the Middle East.

"We're looking at the likes of Oman, and parts of the UAE not necessarily Dubai but the other Emirates for other Langham Hotels. But for Cordis we are definitely considering Dubai and Abu Dhabi because there's a market for upscale brands," She said.
