The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) regional government has targeted to attract two million tourists annually to the areas of Lombok and Sumbawa by 2015.
The NTB had previously launched the Visit Lombok-Sumbawa campaign earlier this year, which successfully saw one million domestic and international visitor arrivals for the first 11 months of 2012.
The NTB government and regional tourism promotion board intend to tap into the international market with sales missions to source markets such as Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia next year.
Airlines such as Garuda Indonesia and Air Asia have recently begun directing flights to Lombok from Makassar and Kuala Lumpur, respectively.
