Sleep Art: turn your sleep into a real work of art.
Monday, 8th October 2012
Source : Accor
Early October, a year after announcing its economy hotel 'big-bang', Accor will kick-off a multi-channel (television, billboard, press, Internet) advertising campaign simultaneously in 56 countries.

The campaign, which highlights the transformation and modernity of the ibis family brands, focuses on the promise of a happy sleep thanks to its new bedding.

In addition to this campaign, a digital operation imagined by BETC Digital and created in partnership with Acne, will transform sleep into a work of art and enable Internet users to win overnight stays in several ibis, ibis Styles and ibis budget establishments in Paris, Berlin and London and also see their night's sleep charted on a canvas.

Sleep Art: turn your sleep into a real work of art

"Sleep Art is the result of the rather crazy task we set ourselves of charting our customers' nights on a canvas, enhancing the result and turning it into a work of art. This innovative digital operation, which illustrates our promise of a happy sleep, was a real technological challenge and is an absolute first in the hotel industry," explain Pierre Lagrange and Stéphane Xiberras enthusiastically. ibis, ibis Styles and ibis budget joined forces with the creative teams at BETC Digital and the experts at Swedish robotics firm Acne to design a unique technological experience: charting a comfortable night's sleep in one of their hotels.

4Hoteliers Image LibraryA robot connected to the new bedding – thanks to 80 sensors located in the topper – will use a range of sleep data to chart the customer's night's sleep, live. A mathematical program was created to communicate all this data to the robot, which gets to work as soon as the customer falls asleep.

Three types of data are analyzed:

Temperatures, body movements (pressure) and sounds. During this most unusual night, the robot will be located in the bar area of the ibis Styles Paris Bercy, which will stay open exceptionally from October 8 to 11, 2012 until 1am so visitors can watch the robot artist at work as it charts the customer's movements, live on a canvas.

The creation of the work of art will be captured in time-lapse and will then be broadcast on the brand's Facebook page facebook.com/ibis, so that this innovative technological experience can be shared with as many people as possible.

Sleep Art, a worldwide digital operation that is a first in the hospitality industry

Hopefuls have been signing up to participate since September 19, 2012 on Facebook facebook.com/ibis.

A lucky draw will treat a handful of these ‘fans' to this exclusive one-time-only experience. Hotels in three European cities will be offer their customers these unique nights: Paris: from October 13 to 23, 2012, Berlin: from November 1 to 11, 2012 and London: from November 19 to 23, 2012.

A few days after their night in the hotel, the winners will receive the artistic illustration of their unique night in digital format.

A revolution in bedding, evolved and renewed at ibis, ibis Styles and ibis budget.

The fact that roughly 70% of guests rank comfortable beds as the single most important factor when they choose an economy hotel prompted Accor to develop an exclusive bedding concept - Sweet BedTM by ibis, ibis Styles, ibis budget - to treat customers to unrivalled comfort and establish a solid reputation on that score. The new bedding concept that Accor has unveiled is packed with the expertise it has built up over more than 40 years.

An in-house scientific committee comprising sleep experts and outside researchers worked together for several months to develop this concept.

This is the first time a hotel group has designed an entire bed. This truly revolutionary ‘new-generation' bed is designed around customers' cultural habits. In other words, it has been tailored around the way customers use beds and local habits – worldwide – to provide unsurpassed comfort in in its category. More than 100,000 beds will be renewed by 2013!
