It will be a new superlative luxury hotel: Guests staying in London at the new Shangri-La 'The Shard' tower will be overwhelmed by the panoramic view over the British capital from the bi-level hotel lobby.
The 195 rooms of the new top hotel (TOPHOTELPROJECTS Nr. 616) will be, with 42 square meters average surface area in size per room, the largest five star hotel rooms in London. The Shangri-La hotel "The Shard" will open its doors in early 2013.
„The Shard" tower, now dominating the London skyline, was officially inaugurated with a laser show before the Summer Olympics 2012. With 310 meters in height it is Europe's tallest building. So far only the facade is complete. The Shangri-La hotel itself, the various restaurants in the tower and a multitude of offices and luxury apartments are currently being furnished. "The Shard's" highlight will most certainly be the public viewing platform on top of the building – 5,000 daily visitors are expected to be up there. It will open 1st February 2013 and is located in the 69th floor - 244 meters above the ground!
The Shangri-La hotel occupies the 34th until the 52nd floor and, being located nearby the famous London Bridge, provides a very good inner-city location. All 25 suites will be surrounded with glazed winter gardens - and this at a dizzy height. All guest rooms and suites will be furnished with the comfortable "Shangri-La beds" – a sophisticated and patented technology to spare the back.
Luxury hotel with 195 rooms offers a spectacular panoramic view
The top hotel offers various F&B outlets, including a premium restaurant and "food theatre café" with multiple cooking stations. The Asia based Shangri-La hotel chain is famous for its extraordinary spa & wellness concept: "The Shard" will also be equipped with an infinity-pool with a panoramic view overviewing London and offer a whirlpool, steam bath and sauna.
So far Shangri-La is present in Europe with one operating hotel in Paris. Besides the new Shangri-La London a further Shangri-La top hotel project will be inaugurated in Istanbul/Turkey next year (TOPHOTELPROJECTS Nr. 8254).
