If your hotel is wondering where all the shower gel has gone, there's a good chance it is sitting in a bathroom cabinet in the UK.
More than 430,000 gallons of shampoo pilfered from hotel rooms by British holidaymakers is currently sitting in bathroom cabinets, according to a new survey.
Hotels.com, part of Expedia, questioned 500 people to find out what they took home from their stay away
Seventy per cent admit to taking the mini bottles of shampoo but only 46 per cent take the conditioner bottles. The shower gel is a big attraction it's pilfered by 60 per cent of guests.
One man in 10 takes the sewing kit and four per cent help themselves to the nail files.
Few have guilt feelings about packing the hotel toiletries into their suitcases. Four out of five of those surveyed believed they had paid for the toiletries and were entitled to take them away.
A spokeswoman for Hotels.com said: Around two per cent of people actually take the Do not disturb signs with them, because for some they are collectors' items - which sounds a bit sad."
