There's been no shortage of talk about reputation and crisis management in the news recently, and your (hopefully) favorite crisis managers have been out there sharing thoughts.
First, we had Insider's coverage of the Try Guys, a group of four who fell to three after one member - whose onscreen persona was very much centered on being "the wife guy" - was revealed to have been engaged in a workplace affair.
Woops. If you're a regular reader you've often seen us write about how contrasts between expectations and reality create crisis-level events. Well, case in point. Keep that in mind as we move along because you just may see a trend in other recent media coverage...
Next we had Kanye, Kanye, and more Kanye. In interviews for Forbes, TIME, and USA Today, I shared my belief that, while the rules are quite different when you look at a celebrity than, say, your average executive, even Ye can't get away with rampant, extremely public, and entirely unapologetic bad behavior for too long.
Consumers examining the social values of their favorite brands is a trend that continues to skyrocket, and big players in most industries simply aren't willing to take the risk of directly associating with someone their core audiences are offended by anymore.
Finally, we chopped it up with MarketWatch for an article inspired by the rapid rise and fall of Liz Truss (no we're not getting into UK politics, don't worry!) which sought to extrapolate lessons for those restarting their career after a messy exit from their last position.
We'll keep callin' em like we see 'em, but if you had another viewpoint on any of the issues above I'd love to hear your thoughts. My email's always open!
