Is Your Toilet Listening To You? 🚽 😳
By Margaret Ady
Tuesday, 15th January 2019

Technology news and articlesLet's talk CES (that's the Consumer Electronics Show, you newb, it's where all the cool tech companies unveil their hottest new products, and it happened last week) and it felt like everything was built for Alexa and/or Google Assistant, including many gadgets that could be pretty sweet for ultra-connected hotels.

To name a few: sunlight-blocking blinds, shower controls, smarter light bulbs, and a toilet that really listens (eek!).

All this new and connected tech really set the stage for the week - check it:

Stop it with innovation

At least cut back on using the word so much. John Padgett, chief experience and innovation officer at Carnival Corporation, calls us all out, saying that the i-word is the "most overused word in the dictionary right now."

He thinks it's more about focusing on the goal and what you want to change. Preach, John! 🙌 Check out the full interview with him and others - it's a longer one, but well worth the watch.

A year of connectivity

Speaking of overused buzzwords, let's talk connectivity, shall we? Many tout it, few actually do it. Is 2019 the year of connections? Here at apaleo, we definitely think its time for hotels to connect all their systems. And, once that's done, hotels can make it easier for guests to connect with their destination.

It's time to get personal

Are you offering tailored experiences to your guests? You better be if you want to drive any kind of loyalty. The personalization trend is here to stay, marcel. Here's a look at how hotel brands are keeping up. By the way, you know what can make it even easier to create personalized experiences? You guessed it - super-connected technology. 😜

Is Airbnb stealing your guests?

Probably, TBH. Especially if you're a limited service hotel that is located in a major city. Here's why we think so and what your hotel can do to compete. 'Nuff said.
