THE AMERICAS

More changes at the top at Hilton where Executive Vice President, Americas, Ken Smith will be leaving the company after 38 years. He had been promoted to his current position in 2007 and had previously served seven years as Senior Vice President Operations. Replacing Smith with the title of President – Americas, is Joe Berger, a co-President of Blackstone's LXR Luxury Resorts. Prior to joining LXR's predecessor Boca Resorts, Berger had a long career with Westin, including the post of General Manager at San Francisco's St. Francis.

Four Seasons has promoted Dean Hyry to the position of Vice President, Residential Operations Worldwide. He was most recently the Regional Director of Residences for the company after spending four years as Resort Manager of the Four Seasons Hualalai. Prior to joining Four Seasons, he held a variety of management positions with Mandarin Oriental and Hyatt.

Christian Clerc has returned to Washington, D.C. as Area General Manager for Four Seasons. Years ago, he had served in the city as Hotel Manager for the Hay Adams before moving over in the same position to the Four Seasons Washington, D.C. A Lausanne graduate, Clerc served as General Manager of the Four Seasons Punta Mita before moving into his most recent role as General Manager and Regional Vice President at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago.

Denny Fitzpatrick has returned to his native Washington State to take over as General Manager at the Hotel 1000 in Seattle. For the past six years, he had been the General Manager of the Beverly Hilton. Previously, he served as General Manager for the Doubletree Guest Suites Santa Monica, the Doubletree Pasadena Hotel Plaza Las Fuentes and the Doubletree Spokane City Center. Fitzpatrick used to be a quarterback for the University of Washington Huskies. At the Hotel 1000, he takes over from ex-Four Seasons man Brian Flaherty who moves up to a corporate position with MTM Hotels.

Long-time Four Seasons General Manager Hans Willimann has transferred to the Four Seasons Vail, due to open in the third quarter of 2009. He has held the position of General Manager at the Four Seasons Chicago since before the hotel's opening in 1989. Willimann had previously held upper management positions with the Four Seasons Toronto, the Inn on the Park Houston and the Four Seasons Boston.

Patrick Ghielmetti has been promoted with Four Seasons to Regional Vice President for the Chicago hotels. He was most recently the General Manager of the Four Seasons Bangkok and had previously managed the Regent of Chiang Mai and the Four Seasons Sharm El Sheik.

Denise Flanders has transferred to the Four Seasons Chicago as General Manager, taking over from Hans Willimann. For the past five years, Flanders was the General Manager of the Four Seasons Atlanta.
 
Michele Grosso has been promoted to General Manager of the Ritz-Carlton Chicago. Since 2007 Grosso has held the position of Hotel Manager at the property. Previous stints included Hotel Manager for the Four Seasons Prague and Director of Food and Beverage for the Four Seasons Singapore, Four Seasons Toronto and the Four Seasons Aviara

Gary Budge has been appointed General Manager of the Algonquin Hotel. He was most recently the General Manager of the Sheraton Parsippany and previously served as Hotel Manager of the Sheraton New York and as General Manager of the (now defunct) Westin Central Park South.
 
Katie Neufeld has been named General Manager of the Crowne Plaza Northstar in Minneapolis. She has been with IHG for the past fifteen years, serving most recently as Hotel Manager for the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan.

Russ Craney has been named General Manager of the Osprey at Beaver Creek, formerly known as the Inn at Beaver Creek. He was most recently the Assistant General Manager at the Hotel Jerome. He previously served as Director of Operations for the Lodge & Spa at Cordillera and Food and Beverage Director for the Vail Cascade Resort & Spa.

Philippe Godefroit has joined the Caesar Park Rio de Janeiro Ipanema as General Manager. Godefroit had been with Accor since 1984, starting out in the kitchen at the Novotel Baghdad. He also served as General Manager of the Novotel Limeira, the Sofitel São Luis, the Sofitel Salvador and, most recently, the Sofitel Rio de Janeiro.

Michel Morauw has transferred as General Manager of the Andaz West Hollywood. This will be the flagship U.S. property for Hyatt's new hip brand in the former Sunset Hyatt. Morauw, a Lausanne graduate, has been with Hyatt since 1984, most recently as General Manager of the Park Hyatt Washington D.C. His previous General Manager postings with the company include the Hyatt Regency Paris - Charles de Gaulle and the Hyatt Regency Paris – Madeleine.

Replacing Michel Morauw as General Manager of the Park Hyatt Washington D.C. is Walter Brindell, who was most recently the Vice President-Rooms for Hyatt North America. In his new position, he will also be the Vice President Park Hyatt North America.

Ramesh Sadhwani takes over for Philippe Caretti as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Wynn Las Vegas. He joined the hotel in his most recent position of Senior Vice President Tower Suites. Previously, he spent sixteen years with Four Seasons, most recently as General Manager of the Four Seasons Houston, the Four Seasons Great Exuma and the Four Seasons Maldives.

Wentworth by the Sea Hotel & Spa in New Hampshire has promoted Frank Wetenkamp to General Manager. He had served as Food and Beverage Director at the resort for the past four years and previously held the post of Food and Beverage Director at the Cliff House Resort and Spa in Maine and the Westin Waltham.

The Lowell New York has named Ashish Verma General Manager. He was most recently the General Manager at the Windsor Court New Orleans. Verma held various positions in the past with Oberoi Hotels, Hyatt International, Millennium and Orient Express in Asia, Europe and North America. He is a graduate of the IHMI Cornell-Essec.

Cornell graduate Jeffry Humes takes over as Managing Director for the Wyndham Nassau Resort and Crystal Palace Casino. He previously served as a Consultant and Operations Director for the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort in Atlantic City, Pink Sands Resort and Coconut Bay Beach Resort.

Paul O'Dowd has joined Le Rivage Hotel in Sacramento as Vice President of Operations/General Manager. He was previously the General Manager at Ventana Big Sur and also served as Director of Food and Beverage at the St. Regis Monarch Beach, L'Auberge del Mar and the Highlands Inn.

Andrew Helal has joined the Renaissance Pittsburgh as General Manager taking over from Barbara McMahon, who was promoted to Regional Vice President for Sage Hospitality Resources. Helal had previously served as Vice President of Operations for Cable Beach Resorts, Chief Operating Officer, Hospitality Operations at Pearl River Resort and Managing Director for the Marriott Frenchman's Reef and Morning Star Beach Resorts in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
 
Frank Lubner has been appointed General Manager for the Thompson Hotel Downtown in New York. For the past five years, he had been with the Mandarin Oriental New York, most recently as Director Front Office Operations. Lubner previously served in various operational roles with the New York Palace, the Ritz-Carlton Central Park South and the St. Regis New York.

Simon Smith has been selected as General Manager for the Goodstone Inn and Estate in Virginia. Smith most recently had an eight-year stint as Director of Lodging and Restaurant Manager for Blackberry Farm in Tennessee. He previously served in food and beverage positions for the Boars Head Inn in Charlottesville and Meadowood in St. Helena.

Geoff Roemelt has transferred as General Manager to the newly opened Starwood Luxury Collection hotel in Dallas, Joule. He previously served as General Manager of the Westin Portland and the Sheraton Four Points Portland.

Alliance Hospitality Management has appointed Joseph Smith President. Smith was most recently the President of Boykin Management Company.

Pradeep Bobba is the new General Manager of the Sheraton Crystal City. He joins the hotel from the Embassy Suites Orlando Downtown where he has served as Director of Operations since January 2008. He had previously served as Executive Director of Hotel Operations at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and Director of Rooms for the Phoenician and the Westin Chicago River North.

The M Resort, Spa and Casino in Las Vegas has named William Conn Vice President of Hotel Operations. He has been in Las Vegas since 1993, starting out at Caesars Palace before moving on to open the New York New York Hotel & Casino, Paris Las Vegas and Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino (formerly Aladdin Resort & Casino).

James Riker has been named General Manager of the Radisson Plaza-Warwick in Philadelphia. He was most recently serving as General Manager of the Hilton Hartford Hotel in Connecticut. 

Jeffrey Roike takes over for Riker as General Manager of the Hilton Hartford. He most recently served as General Manager of the Four Points by Sheraton Hyannis Resort. Previously, he served as General Manager of the Sheraton Nashua Hotel, Director of Operations for the Boston Park Plaza Hotel and General Manager of the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside.

Marriott International has appointed Andrew Houghton Area Vice President for the Caribbean and Brazil, based in Weston, Florida. Most recently, he was the General Manager at the JW Marriott Shanghai and MEA at Tomorrow Square

Sandra Finlay has been named General Manager at the much-delayed Regent Boston, due to open this summer. She previously served as Hotel Manager at the Regent Wall Street, Director of Rooms at the Regent Bangkok, Executive Assistant Manager at the Regent Auckland and Director of Human Resources at the Regent Melbourne. Finlay also recently worked as Project Manager at New York's Carlyle.

Susan Santiago has been selected General Manager for the Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort & Casino. She most recently served as General Manager at the Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa

 Randall Wilkie has been appointed General Manager of Cobblers Cove in Barbados. He comes from Blue Waters in Antigua and previously spent many years with Sandals throughout the Caribbean.

Todd Orlich has been promoted to Hotel Manager at Montage Beverly Hills. He transfers from the Montage Laguna Beach where he most recently held the title of Director of Food and Beverage. He has previously served in various food and beverage positions at the Westin Mission Hills, Mary Elaine's at the Phoenician and at the Ventana Room at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort.

Katja Henke has transferred to the Beverly Wilshire as Hotel Manager. She was most recently the Hotel Manager at the Four Seasons Washington D.C. She previously held the position of General Manager at Blantyre.

David Bernand has been promoted to Hotel Manager at the Four Seasons Washington D.C. where he most recently served as Director of Food and Beverage. He originally joined the company in 1999 at the Four Seasons Dallas, serving in various food and beverage positions before moving on to the Four Seasons Toronto.

Fredrik Blomqvist has been promoted to Hotel Manager at the Four Seasons Philadelphia. He was most recently overseeing food and beverage for the Four Seasons Dublin. His previous food and beverage experience includes positions with Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency and Hilton International in Europe and the Middle East.

The Fairmont Washington D.C. has promoted Angie Clifton to Director of Operations. She came to the property in 2007 as Director of Rooms. Clifton joined Fairmont in 1996 at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

Eliezer Quinones has been promoted with West Paces Hotels to Hotel Manager for the Capella Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas. He was most recently serving as Rooms Executive at the Carefree Resort and Villas.  He also held various rooms management positions at the Peabody Little Rock, the Cloister and the Lodge at Sea Island. In addition, he spent six years with Ritz-Carlton in Las Vegas, St. Thomas, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Cancun.

Pinnacle Entertainment has promoted Lewis Fanger to Vice President of Investor Relations. He joined the company in 2003 as Director of Investor Relations. He had previously worked in the financial field for Credit Suisse First Boston, Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns.

Lynn Handler has been named Vice President and Corporate Counsel for Pinnacle Entertainment. Handler, who joined Pinnacle's legal department in 2004 as Associate General Counsel, had previously served in the legal department at Resorts International.

Keith Henson has been named Vice President of Casino Operations for Pinnacle Entertainment. Henson joined Pinnacle in 1997 as a table games dealer at the company's Boomtown Reno property and has held his most recently position as Vice President of Relationship Marketing since 2006.

Ed Mulholland, who joined Pinnacle Entertainment in 2007 as Associate General Counsel, has been named Vice President and Corporate Counsel. He joined Pinnacle after serving as Vice President and Associate Corporate Counsel for the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Pinnacle Entertainment has named Alex Stolyar Vice President of Corporate Development. Stolyar, who joined Pinnacle in 2003 as a Finance Associate, has served as Director of Development for the company since 2004.

Vaclav Kmonicek moved to the Four Seasons Seattle as Director of Finance. He has served as Director of Finance since 2007 at the Four Seasons Golf Club Dubai. He previously held the post of Assistant Director of Finance with both the Four Seasons Hampshire and the Four Seasons Damascus.

Safwan Abu Risheh has transferred as Director of Finance to the Four Seasons Vancouver, replacing Chris Collens, who is retiring after twenty- three years with the company. Safwan comes from the Four Seasons Amman, where he has been Director of Finance for the past three years.

Montage Beverly Hills has appointed Bharath Bangalore Director of Finance. He was most recently in the same position with the Resort at Pelican Hill. He previously spent nine years with Ritz-Carlton in various finance positions including Director of Finance for the Ritz-Carlton Boston and the Ritz-Carlton Naples.

Aimbridge Hospitality has appointed Judy Hendrick Chief Financial Officer. Hendrick comes from Wyndham Hotels International, where she served as Executive Vice President - Chief Investment Officer, and Senior Vice President of Finance and Treasurer, during her sixteen-year tenure. 
 
The Resort at Squaw Creek has promoted Janis Brehm from Controller to Director of Finance. She previously served as Controller for seven years at the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club and spent eleven years with Hyatt in Cincinnati, Knoxville and Dallas.

Alexander Stadlin has been appointed Senior Vice President of Asset Management for Barcelo Crestline. Stadlin, a Cornell graduate, joins Barcelo Crestline from Marriott International where he last served as Area Vice President for Mexico, Central America and South America. Prior to that, he was Area General Manager and General Manager of the JW Marriott Mexico City and the Airport Marriott Hotel, Mexico City.

Roberto Garrido Sanchez has been named Vice President of Asset Management for Barcelo Crestline. He was most recently the General Manager for the Valentin Imperial Maya Hotel. Previously, he served as General Manager of the Hotel Sunscape Puerto Aventuras, the Hotel Natura Park Eco-Resort & Spa in the Dominican Republic and the Club Royal Mediterraneo in Mallorca.

Pinnacle Entertainment has promoted Win Person to Vice President of Food and Beverage, from his previous position of Senior Director of Epicurean Operations. A Lausanne graduate, he joined Pinnacle in 2007 from Pure Management Group, where he served as Vice President of Restaurant Development. Previously, he held the post of Vice President of Food and Beverage at Bellagio Las Vegas and a range of positions with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

 Adam Odegard has joined Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas as Vice President of Food and Beverage, replacing Tony Angotti. He was most recently the Vice President of Food and Beverage for Treasure Island Resort, a position he had held since 2001, after joining the hotel in 1999 as Executive Chef. He has previously served as Executive Chef in New York City for Ritz-Carlton and Peninsula. Odegard is replaced at Treasure Island by long time Director of Food and Beverage, Monica Dorsey a fifteen-year MGM Mirage veteran.
 
Alexandre Gaudelet has been promoted at the MGM Grand Las Vegas to Executive Director of Food and Beverage. He started at the hotel in 2005 as General Manager for Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak before moving into the position of Director of Food and Beverage for the hotel. Previously, he served as Restaurant Director for the Hotel Meurice in Paris for two years.

Peter Tischmann, Jr. has been promoted to Director of Food and Beverage for the Four Seasons Miami. He was most recently the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage for the Four Seasons Maui. A Cornell graduate, he has previously served in various food and beverage positions at Wynn Las Vegas, Aureole Restaurant and Le Cirque, all in Las Vegas.

Saurav Biswas has been promoted at the St. Regis Monarch Beach to Director of Food and Beverage, replacing Dorian Rommel. He joined the resort in 2004 as Assistant Director of Food and Beverage. He has previously served as the Director of Banquets for the Westin Providence in Rhode Island.

The Fairmont Washington D.C. has promoted Hubert Billod-Morel from the position of Executive Chef to that of Director of Food and Beverage. He originally transferred to Washington D.C. from New York's Plaza where he was the Executive Sous Chef and Acting Executive Chef.

Khalid Mirza has joined the Resort at Pelican Hill as Director of Food and Beverage. He was most recently the Director of Food and Beverage at La Costa. Previously he spent 22 years with Four Seasons, serving as Director of Food and Beverage at the Regent Beverly Wilshire and the Four Seasons Amman.

The Westin Copley Place has appointed Brian Chiaramonte Director of Food and Beverage. For the past twelve years, he has been with the Royal Sonesta Cambridge, most recently as Director of Food and Beverage.

David Sanchez has joined the Hilton Short Hills as Director of Food and Beverage. He comes from Georgia where he held the same position with the Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah. He previously served four years at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation most recently as Executive Assistant Manager/Director of Food and Beverage. In addition, he served with Hilton Hotels for eleven years in various food and beverage positions in New York, Atlanta and Portland.
 
Olivier Mencucci has transferred to the Sofitel Water Tower in Chicago as Food and Beverage Director. He was most recently in the same position at the Sofitel Marseille. Mencucci also served as Restaurant and Bars Manager at the Britannia in London, and as Restaurant Manager for the Conran Group

Michel Darmon has joined Encantado in Santa Fe as Director of Food and Beverage. Since 2003 he had worked for Thomas Keller, overseeing Per Se in New York and Bouchon and Ad Hoc in Yountville.

Jason Brauer has transferred to Molasses Reef- a Ritz-Carlton Reserve on Turks and Caicos, as Director of Food and Beverage. He was most recently overseeing the food and beverage operations for the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove. Brauer also held food and beverage positions at the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco, the Ritz-Carlton Osaka and the Ritz-Carlton Washington, D.C. 

Don Hart has moved to Nashville and to the Hermitage Hotel as Food and Beverage Manager. As such, he will oversee the Capitol Grille and the Oak Bar. He was previously based in Las Vegas, most recently as General Manager of Fiamma Trattoria at the MGM Grand.  Hart previously oversaw Michael Mina's Seablue also at the MGM Grand, and Thomas Keller's Bouchon at the Venetian.

Manchester Grand Resorts has named Deborah Zaharychuk Corporate Director of Human Resources, to oversee the Grand Del Mar in San Diego and the Whitetail Club & Resort in McCall, Idaho. She was most recently the Director of Human Resources at the Island Hotel Newport Beach. Zaharychuk previously held various senior human resources management positions for the St. Regis Monarch Beach Hotel, Raffles L'Ermitage in Beverly Hills, the Four Seasons Los Angeles and the former Westwood Marquis Hotel & Gardens.

Starwood has named Jeff Cava Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. He was most recently the Executive Vice President, Human Resources and Administration, for Wendy's International and Executive Vice President of The New Bakery Company at Wendy's. He had previously served as Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Nike and Vice President, Human Resources for the Walt Disney Company Consumer Products Group.

Gregg Rosentreter has been named Director of Human Resources for the Zermatt Resort and Spa. He was most recently serving in the same capacity for the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa.

Kevin Beutler has joined Tishman Speyer's Archstone as Vice President Human Resources, based in Orange County. He was most recently the Human Resources Director for the St. Regis Monarch Beach. Beutler had also been the Corporate Director of Employment and Recruiting for Gemstone Resorts.

Arthur Schleifer has been promoted within Pinnacle Entertainment to the newly created position of Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. He was most recently the company's Vice President of Real Estate Development. Schleifer joined Pinnacle in 2007 from Harrah's Entertainment from his most recent role as Director of New Business Development.

Starwood has named Phil McAveety Chief Brand Officer. He was most recently the Global Brand Director for Camper International in Mallorca, Spain. Prior to that, he spent nine years with Nike in several positions, including Vice President of Marketing for Nike Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Simon Firmin returns to the Ritz-Carlton Chicago as Senior Director of Marketing. Firmin joined Four Seasons in 1992 at the hotel as Group Sales Manager. He was then promoted to the position of Director of Sales before his promotion to Director of Marketing at the Four Seasons Philadelphia. He also served as Director of Marketing for the Pierre and, most recently, the Four Seasons Nevis, based in New York.

John Egelhoff has been appointed Vice President of Sales for Cloud Nine Resorts in Utah, overseeing the Sky Lodge in Park City and the Sorrel River Ranch in Moab. He was most recently the Director of Sales and Marketing for Twin Farms in Vermont. He previously oversaw sales and marketing for the Little Nell and Auberge du Soleil.

The St. Regis New York has named Benjamin Sinclair Director of Sales and Marketing, taking over for David Taylor. Sinclair was previously the Director of Sales and Marketing for the St. Regis Bora Bora Resort before moving into his most recent position as Area Director of Sales and Marketing, Tahiti and Bora Bora, for Starwood.

Tohnia Miller has joined the Setai San Diego as Director of Sales and Marketing, taking over for Grace Duncan. Miller was most recently the Director of Sales and Marketing at Pala Mesa Resort. She had previously overseen sales and marketing for the Lodge at Tiburon, the Hotel Monaco and the Serrano for Kimpton and the Sofitel San Francisco Bay.

Andrew Peart has transferred to the Four Seasons Whistler as Director of Marketing. He comes from the Four Seasons Canary Wharf where he had been the Director of Marketing since opening in 1999.

Montage Beverly Hills has named Katie Wibling Director of Sales, East Coast. She was most recently the Director of Global Agency Sales for Hyatt International in New York. She has previously served as a Regional Sales Manager for Hyatt Resorts Caribbean and Travel Industry Sales Manager for the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa and the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six.

Fabiola Sotomayor has joined Montage Beverly Hills as Director of Sales, West Coast. She was most recently held the title of Travel Industry Sales Manager at the Four Seasons Los Angeles.

Jeff Wahl has been named Director of Sales at the Regent Palms in Turks and Caicos. Wahl previously served in various sales positions for the Westin and Sheraton at Our Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort and the El San Juan Resort & Casino.

The Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina has appointed Keith Battaglia Director of Sales and Marketing. He was previously the Director of Sales and Marketing at the Glen Cove Mansion.

Shirley Dunn-Hanks has joined the newly opened Starwood Luxury Collection Joule in Dallas as Director of Sales and Marketing. She was most recently serving in the same position at the Hyatt Regency Dallas. Dunn previously served as Director of Marketing for the Hotel Crescent Court and the Mansion on Turtle Creek.

Dan DeFrancia has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing for the Hilton Bellevue. He spent the last four years at the Salish Lodge & Spa and previously held various positions with the Rosario Resort in the San Juan Islands, the Westin La Paloma in Tucson and Meadowood in St. Helena.

Carrie Sheridan has been named Director of Sales and Marketing at the Millennium Hotel St. Louis. She spent the past three years as Director of Sales and Marketing for the Marriott St. Louis West. She had previously served as Director of Sales and Marketing at the Radisson Resort & Spa Scottsdale and the Marriott Phoenix East Hotel & Convention Center.

Lisa Schetinski has been named Director of Sales and Marketing for the Millennium Hotel Minneapolis. For the past eight years, she had been at the Crowne Plaza Northstar in Minneapolis, most recently as Director of Sales and Marketing.  

Coral Hospitality in Atlanta has appointed David Gleim Regional Director of Sales. He was most recently the Director of Sales for the Wyndham Midtown Atlanta.

Kevin Sanford has been promoted at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort to Director of Sales. He was most recently the Senior Sales Manager for the resort.

Don Miller has been named Director of Sales at the Bedford Springs Resort in Pennsylvania. He was previously the Assistant Director of Sales for Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.

Millennium Hotels & Resorts has appointed Sean Lynch Area Director of Business Transient Sales. Most recently, Lynch spent four years as Global Account Director in Starwood's global sales office in New York.

Montage Beverly Hills has named Shaun Brown Director of Catering. He was most recently with the Four Seasons Los Angeles as Assistant Director of Catering.

Beni Vines has been appointed Director of Catering and Conference Services for the Resort at Pelican Hill. Vines most recently held the position of Director of Convention Services and Catering at the Phoenician and previously served as Director of Convention Services at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa, also in Scottsdale.

The Westin Boston Waterfront has appointed Tim Curry Director of Convention Services. He was most recently the Director of Catering and Convention Services at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge.

Coral Hospitality in Atlanta has appointed Rick Warmouth Corporate Director of Revenue Management. He was most recently the Director of Operations and Assistant General Manager at the KeyLime Cove Water Resort.

Walter Manzke has left Bastide in Los Angeles a mere few weeks after earning the restaurant a Three-Star review in the Los Angeles Times. He is joining Celestino Drago as Executive Chef of Drago Downtown slated to begin serving Los Angeles in September. Before serving as Executive Chef for Joe Pytka at Bastide, Manzke worked with Joachim Splichal for nine years at Patina and Pinot Bistro. Paul Shoemaker takes over for Manzke at Bastide. He comes from Providence where he was Michael Cimarusti's Chef de Cuisine.

 Long time Four Seasons Executive Chef Conny Andersson has left the company to open his own restaurant in Venice, California, Restaurant AC. He was most recently the Executive Chef at the Beverly Wilshire and has headed the kitchens at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills, the Four Seasons Bali and the Four Seasons Nevis. His successor at the Beverly Wilshire is his former Executive Sous Chef, Daniel Schaffhauser.

The Peninsula Beverly Hills has appointed James Overbaugh Executive Chef. Overbaugh joins the hotel after eleven years as Executive Chef at Château du Sureau with only a two-year interruption to move to New Orleans as Executive Chef of the Windsor Court. The CIA graduate previously served as Executive Chef at the Stonehedge Inn outside Boston.

Kerry Sear returns to Four Seasons after a nine-year absence as Executive Chef for the Four Seasons Seattle, a position he held for the company at the former Four Seasons Olympic. During his hiatus, he was running his own restaurant, Cascadia, also in Seattle. He had previously worked at the Four Seasons Vancouver and the Four Seasons Toronto.

Christian Monchâtre is the new Executive Chef for the El Dorado Royale in Playa del Carmen. For the past ten years, he had been the Executive Chef at the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles, where he originally started as Executive Sous Chef under Philippe Reynaud. Previously, Monchâtre was the Chef Partner at Gypsy Grill in Los Angeles.

The Fairmont Washington, D.C. has promoted Jason Dalling to Executive Chef. He joined the hotel in 2004 as Executive Sous Chef and has been with the company for over sixteen years. He previously worked at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald and the Fairmont Jasper Lodge

Bradford Thompson has joined Lever House in New York as Executive Chef, replacing Dan Silverman who left to join André Balazs for the still unnamed restaurant at The Standard, New York. For the past five years Thompson was the Chef de Cuisine for Mary Elaine's at the Phoenician, now closed. Previously, he held various culinary positions with Daniel Boulud in New York at DB Bistro Moderne, Café Boulud and Restaurant Daniel.

Bruno Giordano has joined Libertador Hotels in Lima as Executive Corporate Chef.  He was most recently running his own restaurant, Restaurant Villa Laurel, also in Lima. Previously, he was with Orient Express for eight years, serving as Executive Chef at El Encanto in Santa Barbara, the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort and Spa and Orient Express' properties in Peru, including the Hotel Monasterio Del Cusco.

Pilar Sanchez has returned to hotels as Chef de Cuisine for the newly re-opened Coral Casino at the Four Seasons Biltmore Santa Barbara. She previously served in various culinary functions with Meadowood in St. Helena before joining the Food Network, the CIA Greystone and, for the past five years, running her own restaurant, Sanchez, in Napa with her husband, Didier Lenders.

Damian Zedower has joined the Mandarin Oriental Boston as Executive Sous Chef. He had previously served as Senior Sous Chef for the Four Seasons Palm Beach, Executive Chef at Amangani in Jackson Hole and Chef Tournant at the Four Seasons Jackson Hole and the Four Seasons Aviara.

Thomas Bellec has moved over to the Four Seasons Boston as Executive Sous Chef, taking over for Mark Richardson who is now the Executive Chef at the Four Seasons San Francisco. For the past three years Bellec was at the Four Seasons Lana'i at Manele Bay and the Four Seasons Lana'i The Lodge at Koele. He joined the company in 1999 at the Four Seasons Toronto as Chef de Cuisine for Truffles Restaurant

Gianluca Re Fraschini has joined the Resort at Pelican Hill as Restaurant Chef of Andrea. He previously served at the Peninsula restaurant of the Hotel Lotte in Seoul.

The Westin Copley Place has appointed Michael Decanio Assistant Director of Food and Beverage. DeCanio was most recently at the Westin New York Times Square, where he served as Director of Banquets.

David Hoffman has transferred as Director of Rooms to the Montage Beverly Hills. He was most recently in the same position at the Montage Laguna Beach and had previously served as Front Office Manager at the former Four Seasons Newport Beach.

Dave Mars has been named Rooms Executive for the Resort at Pelican Hill. Previously, Mars worked for the Renaissance Las Vegas as Assistant General Manager and as Director of Operations for Signature at the MGM and SkyLofts. He also spent six years at the Four Seasons Aviara.

Konrad Gstrein has been promoted to Director of Rooms at the Four Seasons Philadelphia. Since 2004, he had been at the Four Seasons New York, most recently in Housekeeping and later the Front Office. He previously held various positions at the Four Seasons Maui and the Four Seasons Sydney.

Ronen Aviram has joined the Fairmont Princess Resort in Scottsdale as Director of Rooms. He was most recently across town at the Hotel Valley Ho as Director of Guest Operations. Aviram also spent six years with Four Seasons in Jackson Hole, Aviara and Beverly Hills.

The Montage Beverly Hills has named Alysha Lee Spa Director of Spa Montage. She was previously with the Montage Laguna Beach in various roles. 

Kasia Mays has been selected as Director of the Spa at the Resort at Pelican Hill. She was most recently at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa and had previously been at the Four Seasons Santa Barbara, the MGM Grand, La Costa and the St. Regis Monarch Beach.

EUROPE

Didier Le Calvez is leaving Shangri-La to join Bernard Arnaud of LVMH to spearhead the creation of a new chain of small luxury properties named Cheval Blanc (the first property is already in operation in Courchevel). Before joining Shangri-La, Le Calvez spent eighteen years with Four Seasons, most recently as Vice President and General Manager for the Four Seasons George V in Paris. He previously served as General Manager of the Pierre in New York and the Regent Singapore.

Paolo Biscioni has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of Italy's Royal Demeure Hotel Group, which includes the Hotel Helvetia & Bristol in Florence, the Hotel d'Inghilterra in Rome and the Grand Hotel Continental in Siena. 

Sylvain Ercoli has returned to the Royal Monceau in Paris as General Manager, taking over from Dagmar Woodward. Ercoli was once briefly the General Manager of the hotel, under previous ownership in 1995. For the past two years, he served as General Manager at the Hôtel de Crillon and had previously managed Claridge's in London and the Martinez in Cannes.

Bernard Granier has returned to the Concorde Lafayette as General Manager. He had held that position from 1995 to 1997, and was most recently the Vice President, France and Africa, for Mövenpick. At Concorde, Granier is also in charge of the group's seven hotels in the greater Paris area.

Yannick Paturel is the General Manager of the Radisson SAS in Aix les Bains. He was previously the General Manager of sister property the Park Inn Lyon Ouest, and also served as General Manager of L'Espérance Marc Meneau and the Domaine du Roncemay.

Davide Barnes has been promoted to General Manager at the Four Seasons Prague. He joined the company in 2006 as Hotel Manager at the Four Seasons Philadelphia. He previously served as General Manager at Chaminade Resort and Spa and was with Benchmark Hospitality for fifteen years.

Marco Gervasoni has been picked as General Manager for the Russell London. He was most recently the General Manager of the De Vere Grand Harbour in Southampton.

Marc de Beer has been appointed General Manager of the Conrad Brussels, replacing Ivan Hiel. It is a Hilton promotion for de Beer who was previously the Palace Manager at Qasr Al Sharq in Jeddah, a member of Hilton's Waldorf=Astoria Collection. De Beer is also a former Director of Operations at the Jeddah Hilton. His successor at Qasr Al Sharq is Thomas Huber.

Mario Ferraro is the new General Manager of the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice, replacing Paolo Biscioni. Ferraro previously served in various roles at the Grand Hotel Santa Lucia and the San Domenico Palace.

Antonino Cardillo leaves Le Méridien Chia Laguna in Taormina after five years, to be the opening General Manager of La Plage, also in Taormina.

Maurizio Romani has joined the Aquapura Duro Valley Hotel in Portugal as General Manager. He was most recently at L'Hotel Andana in Italy as General Manager. He previously managed the Caesar Augustus Hotel on Anacapri and the Grand Hotel Palace in Rome.

Tim Pettifer has been appointed General Manager of London's St. James Hotel & Club. He is a former General Manager of Cliveden.

Martin Mangan has been appointed General Manager of the Conrad Dublin, replacing Laurens Zieren who recently transferred to the Hilton New York. He was most recently the General Manager at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire and has previously held senior management positions at the Grand Canal Hotel in Dublin and Jury's Doyle Hotels in Dublin and London.

Karen Ayad has been promoted to Director of Food and Beverage at the Four Seasons Hampshire. She has been the Director of Catering since the pre-opening of the resort.

Marion Ryan has been promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing at the Four Seasons Canary Wharf. For the past nine years, she had been at the Four Seasons London, where she started as Sales Manager before moving into her most recently position of Director of Sales.

Famed French chef Paul Haeberlin who transformed his family's modest restaurant into a world-class affair, has died. He was 84. His restaurant, L'Auberge de L'Ill, is rated among the world's best. It won its first Michelin Star in 1952, the second one in 1957 and the third one in 1967.

Pam Carter has joined the soon-to-reopen St. James's Hotel and Club as Executive Assistant. She was most recently the Public Relations Director of the Savoy in London.

ASIA AND THE PACIFIC

Wyndham has appointed Tom Monahan Executive Vice President, International Development, based in Hong Kong. Monahan served Starwood for the last twelve years, most recently as Senior Vice President, Acquisitions and Development, Asia Pacific. 

Wyndham has promoted Rajeev Panjwani to Director of International Development for Southeast Asia. Panjwani was previously the Director of Development for Group RCI, a subsidiary of Wyndham Worldwide.

Philippe Cavory has joined Six Senses as General Manager of Sonevafushi in the Maldives. He was most recently the Hotel Manager for the Angsana Riads Collection in Morocco.

The St. Regis Shanghai has appointed Amanda Elder General Manager. She replaces former General Manager Chuck Abbott, who now heads up Starwood's expansion in Macau with the opening of the Sheraton Macau. Elder most recently held the position of Regional Director of Sales and Marketing, Pacific, for Starwood based at the Sheraton on The Park in Sydney.

Michael and Luciana Nijdam have moved to world-famous Huka Lodge on Lake Taupo in New Zealand to serve as joint General Managers. For the past year, they were managing the Carrington Resort and Karikari Estate Vineyards & Winery also in New Zealand. The Nijdams previously managed Winvian in Connecticut, the Pitcher Inn in Vermont and Biras Creek Resort on Virgin Gorda. 

Brent Martin has been promoted to General Manager of the Four Seasons Koh Samui. He was most recently the Hotel Manager of the Beverly Wilshire. Prior to joining Four Seasons in July 2007, he had been the General Manager of the Sofitel Los Angeles for six years.

Neil Blenkharn has been appointed General Manager of the Novotel Beijing West Zhongguancun. He has previously managed the Garden Cliff Resort & Spa Pattaya by Sofitel in Thailand.
 
Antony Paton has been appointed Area General Manager for Soneva Kiri by Six Senses, currently under development on Koh Kood in Thailand. Paton joins from his previous role of General Manager at Le Royal Amman and Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Le Royal Group of Hotels. Previously, he served as Regional General Manager for Ramada Hotels in the UK and General Manager of the clubs and restaurants division of the Peninsula Group in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Edward Linsley has transferred as Resort Manager to the Four Seasons Lana'i at Manele Bay. He joined the company in 1990 at the Four Seasons Philadelphia and was most recently the Hotel Manager at the Four Seasons Houston. He previously served as Assistant Director of Food and Beverage at the Four Seasons Chicago and Director of Food and Beverage at the Four Seasons Nevis.

Alastair McAlpine has been promoted to General Manager at the Four Seasons Maldives at Kuda Huraa, taking over for Tom Roelens. McAlpine was most recently the Resort Manager at the Four Seasons Lana'i at Manele Bay. This is a return to Kuda Huraa for McAlpine who previously spent two years there as Director of Food and Beverage. He previously worked at the Four Seasons Tokyo at Chinzan-so, the Four Seasons Washington D.C. and the Pierre.

Richard Cooke has returned to the Shangri-La Singapore as Hotel Manager. He previously served for two years at the hotel, overseeing food and beverage operations, before moving to Hong Kong as Corporate Director of Food and Beverage. His most recent position was at the Pudong Shangri-La as Hotel Manager.

Christina Purba has been promoted to Director of Marketing at the Four Seasons Koh Samui after joining the resort in 2006 as Director of Sales. She joined the company in 2001 at the Four Seasons Bali at Jimbaran Bay as a Sales Manager.

Ang Lay Ling has been named Director of Marketing at the Four Seasons Langkawi, to be based in Singapore. Lay Ling is no stranger to Langkawi having worked for ten years as Director of Sales and Marketing for GHM, who operates the Datai and the Andaman in Langkawi as well as Carcosa Seri Negara and the Saujana, both in Kuala Lumpur.

Robert Conte has joined the Westin Bombay as Executive Chef.  He has previously served as Chef de Cuisine for Blu Restaurant in the Shangri-La Singapore and as Executive Chef at the Willcox in South Carolina.    

Dane Clouston has been appointed Executive Chef at the Puli Hotel and Spa in Shanghai, set to open later this year. He comes from the restaurant OPIA at the Philippe Starck-designed boutique hotel JIA Hong Kong

Fabrice Huet has joined the Four Seasons Lanai at Manele Bay and the Four Seasons Lana'i The Lodge at Koele as Executive Sous Chef. He was most recently in the same position for the Four Seasons Hualalai, after working at the Four Seasons Terre Blanche in France.

Kristine Sy Ladd has joined the Mandarin Oriental Beijing as Guest Relations Manager. She was most recently in the same position with the Peninsula Bangkok.

MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA

Kristof Mares will be the Chief Operating Officer of Dubai-based Emaar's new hotel brand, dubbed The Address. He joins following ten years with Mandarin Oriental, most recently as General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London.

At Jumeirah, John Arnesen has been put in charge of opening the 6,500-room Asia Asia in Dubai. Arnesen is a veteran of Las Vegas and Atlantic City, who was most recently the President and Chief Operating Officer of Nevada Gold & Casinos.

Olivier Thomas has been appointed Hotel Manager at the Four Seasons Amman. He was most recently in the same position at the St. Regis New York. He previously served as Executive Assistant Manager at the Westin Excelsior in Rome and in held food and beverage management positions at the Hotel Plaza-Athénée New York and the Savoy in London.

Martin Rhomberg has been promoted to General Manager of the Four Seasons Damascus. He was most recently the Resort Manager at the Four Seasons Costa Rica. He previously served as Food and Beverage Director at the Four Seasons Caracas and the Four Seasons Punta Mita.

Abdul Baaghil has joined the Fairmont Nile Cairo as Hotel Manager. He was most recently the Hotel Manager of the Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street. He previously served as Director of Food and Beverage at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain and the Ritz-Carlton Sharm El Sheikh.

Thomas Klippstein has been transferred by Kempinski to open its new property in Bahrain. He previously served as General Manager of the Adlon Kempinski in Berlin.

Karl Hala has been named General Manager of the InterContinental Nairobi and Director of Operations – Africa, for InterContinental Hotels Group. He joined IHG in 1991 and has worked in several InterContinental and Crowne Plaza properties in Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean and Europe. His most recent positions were as General Manager of the InterContinental Budapest and General Manager of the InterContinental Warsaw.

Martial Thévenaz has joined the Anassa in Cyprus as General Manager, replacing Stathis Mavromatis. The Lausanne graduate was most recently the General Manager at the Kiana Resort the Villas at Playa Dominical in Costa Rica. He previously served as General Manager of the Hotel Bora Bora after joining the resort in 2002 as Resident Manager.

Detlef Winter has been selected General Manager of the Al Bustan Rotana Dubai. He previously held positions at the Columbia Beachotel on Cyprus and the Marriott Royal Garden Riverside in Bangkok.
