Singapore Pavilion to showcase authentic local flavours to millions of visitors.

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) launched a tender yesterday for a food and beverage (F&B) outlet for the Singapore Pavilion at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China.

The tender invites Singapore-based or registered companies with operations in Shanghai to submit credentials and proposals for services covering the six month period of the World Expo 2010 from 1 May to 31 October.

"Singapore’s participation at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China is an excellent opportunity for us to share the story of its transformation with people around the world. Singapore is known for its diverse blend of cultures which is best exemplified in our vast array of distinctive local cuisines. Having an F&B outlet offering local flavours at the Singapore Pavilion will enable Chinese and international visitors to experience the authentic tastes of Singapore and ultimately entice them to visit our city,” said Mr. Ken Low, Assistant Chief Executive, Marketing Group, STB.

The World Expo 2010 Shanghai China is expected to attract 70 million visitors. Singapore’s efforts at the Shanghai World Expo will be its largest since it started participating in the exhibition in 1986, with a 3,000 square metre pavilion.

Inspired by the main World Expo theme of “Better City, Better Life”, the Singapore Pavilion theme of Urban Symphony will invite visitors to discover Singapore’s transformation into a model city to live, work and play developed through innovative and sustainable planning.

Resembling a music box, the façade of the pavilion will draw visitors in to explore the pavilion as they hear music emanating from its core.

The musical odyssey through the pavilion will continue through a symphony of flavours at the F&B outlet and culminate in a breathtaking rooftop garden which will showcase the best aspects of Singapore as a city in a garden.  The closing date for the submission of proposals is 17 August 2009.

More information can be obtained via the Government Electronic Business (GeBiz) website at www.gebiz.gov.sg.
