Carlson announced the further expansion of its first-class Radisson Blu portfolio in key gateway cities in Asia Pacific with the signing of the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Bangkok, Sukhumvit.

The 290-room contemporary hotel is ideally located near Soi 27 on Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok's prime commercial, entertainment and shopping district. The hotel is near the Phom Phong and Asoke Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) Skytrains and the Sukhumvit Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station.

"This exciting addition of the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Bangkok aligns with our plans to expand Radisson Blu as a vibrant, contemporary and engaging first-class brand in Asia Pacific," said Simon C. Barlow, president, Carlson Hotels, Asia Pacific.

The hotel is owned by G&P Asset Holdings, a major property owner in Thailand. The property is under construction and will open in the fourth quarter of 2013.

The hotel will feature 266 guest rooms and 24 suites that have been designed by local architectural firm Inter Akitek Company Limited, with noted local interior design firm P49 DEESIGN. 

Hotel guests will enjoy extensive recreational facilities, including an outdoor swimming pool, a full-service spa and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Guests will enjoy a choice of superb dining venues including an all-day dining restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, a rooftop Italian restaurant and wine bar, a pool bar, a café and other facilities such as an elegant high-ceiling lobby lounge and bar, and a business club lounge.

The hotel's professional meetings and events facilities will include a grand ballroom, a multi-purpose function room and six boardrooms. There will be wireless, high-speed Internet access available throughout the hotel.

The Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Bangkok, Sukhumvit is Carlson's sixth hotel in Thailand. Hotels in operation include the Radisson Blu Plaza Resort Phuket Panwa Beach, the Radisson Suites Bangkok Sukhumvit, the Park Plaza Sukhumvit Bangkok and the Park Plaza Bangkok Soi 18. Currently under development as well is the Radisson Blu Resort Hua Hin.
