Moevenpick to enter the Chinese market.

Moevenpick Hotels & Resorts has signed the Moevenpick Hotel Shanghai in China with King Land Real Estate Ltd, marking the first of a series of developments in the country. The newly built 300 room hotel will open in 2013.

The signing of the Mövenpick Hotel Shanghai, China represents a significant step forward in Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts' key strategy to penetrate the Chinese Market. The contemporary hotel is located at Jiading District close to Shanghai International Circuit and Kunshan City.

The upscale hotel will provide food and beverage offerings to suit all palates, two specialty restaurants and a Micro Brewery producing internationally renowned German beer. Hotel guests will also enjoy an array of leisure activities, including spa, fitness centre and swimming pool.

China represents a critical part of Mövenpick Hotels& Resorts' growth strategy in emerging markets, with the aim of growing the portfolio in the country by five to ten hotels over the next five years through a combination of strategic alliances as well as further Management contracts.
