NZ's Auckland top destination.

Auckland is the top destination for international travellers for January to March 2007 -  according to statistics released by a leading online accommodation reservation service, HolidayCity.com.

There is an exceptional increase of 49.5% in the number of total bookings made for hotels in New Zealand in the first quarter of 2007 compared to the same period in 2006.

Top 10 International Visitors:
1. United Kingdom
2. Australia
3. USA
4. Canada
5. Ireland
6. Japan
7. Germany
8. Switzerland 
9. France
10. Singapore

Top 10 New Zealand Destination:
1. Auckland
2. Christchurch
3. Wellington
4. Queenstown
5. Rotorua
6. Te Anau
7. Dunedin
8. Hamilton
9. Mount Cook
10. Fox Glacier

In a surprising development, the UK travellers take the top spot with 27.1% of the total hotel bookings made in New Zealand in the first quarter of 2007, a phenomenal increase of 58% from 2006. Despite its relative distance, New Zealand is clearly attracting travellers far and wide. Travellers from the USA and Canada take top spots, as well as those from the European countries, such as Germany, Switzerland and France.

The data was collected from hotel bookings made from January to March 2007 by HolidayCity.com's customers.
