WiT will launch The Travel Roadshow (2021 Series) in March, to be held monthly, it will provide a regular hangout around which the WiT community can gather to chart new trends, exchange ideas, share lessons and forge a sense of camaraderie to get through the uncertain year ahead.
Said Yeoh Siew Hoon, founder, WiT, “The past year taught us how vital community was to get us through the worst crisis of our generation especially community gathered around content that kept us informed, updated, empowered and connected.
“As we enter 2021, things still remain murky, and although there are glimmers of hope around the vaccine, there is still a lot of uncertainty and to get through this year, we’re going to need each other even more.
“Because so many factors are out of our own control, we must create our own clarity. That’s the thinking behind The Travel Roadshow – we want it to be a safe, neutral and open platform around which we can gather our friends regularly and where we can provide road signs along the way to help us get through 2021.”
Each edition will be about 90 minutes long. Designed to adapt to changing circumstances as the year unfolds, it can either be hybrid or virtual and will have an evolving content format and flow to ensure its relevance and context.
“What we will do is curate the month’s headlines, provide commentary and analysis, chart key trends, feature smart and sharp conversations and also serve up unexpected stuff that makes the travel world go round,” said Yeoh.
Each edition will feature segments such as:
- The Wrap: Short, sharp and smart commentary of the month’s headlines
- Spotlight: Topic, Trend or Talking Head of The Month
- Stats & Stuff: The month in numbers, by Phocuswright
- Life Line: Music, books, movies, recipes, recommends
- Mini-Debate: Condensed version of the signature WiT Debate
Supported by Phocuswright and PhocusWire, The Travel Roadshow will also draw on expertise and content from its family of travel and meeting titles to ensure every segment of travel – retail, corporate, meetings, cruise – is covered.
“As we turn the calendar to 2021 and look forward with it a sense of optimism, we recognize that our industry still must overcome some huge obstacles on this journey toward recovery. We are excited to bring the Phocuswright and PhocusWire communities together with the WiT community to support The Travel Roadshow by exchanging ideas and sharing data and smart insights to map the way forward together.” said Pete Comeau, managing director, Phocuswright.
Said Robert Sullivan, president, Northstar Travel Group, “WiT is known for its unconventional approach to its events and the Travel Roadshow is another example of how it’s adapting to the current trend of creating micro-experiences around content and a loyal community. We will support the monthly gathering with relevant content across Northstar’s portfolio assets to help drive extensive outreach.”
