The new City Readiness Subcommittee will ensure coordination between the nation’s local and federal entities to welcome the world to the biggest event ever held in the Arab world.

The entire UAE is getting behind Expo 2020 to ensure it is an exceptional event that further elevates the country’s status on the world stage.

To support the nationwide collaboration, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Expo Dubai 2020 Higher Committee, has created a City Readiness Subcommittee.

Led by His Excellency Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Vice Chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee, the subcommittee will plan and oversee the coordination of dozens of local and federal entities to ensure the UAE is ready to welcome millions of visitors during the six-month event.

The subcommittee also includes Her Excellency Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau; His Excellency Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority; His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and Director General of Dubai World Trade Centre Authority; His Excellency Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman, Dubai Aviation City Corporation; His Excellency Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; and His Excellency Engineer Dawood Al Hajri, Director General of the Dubai Municipality.

The inaugural meeting took place on 13 March and discussed the development of a collaborative plan to enhance the visitor experience during the six months of Expo 2020, covering areas including immigration, transport, events, healthcare and attractions across the rest of the country.

Expo 2020 expects to welcome 25 million visits between 20 October, 2020 and 10 April, 2021. About 70 per cent of visitors are projected to come from outside the UAE – the largest proportion of international visitors in the 168-year history of World Expos.
