Situated on top of a cliff 667 meters above sea level, Hechi Airport will be the highest civilian airport in Guangxi when it opens next month.

Hechi Airport has been under the management of Guangxi Airport Management Group. The construction, approved in May 2006 with an investment of 850 million RMB, commenced in December 2008 and was completed at the end of 2013.



More than 60 hilltops were leveled off to make way for the airport's construction.

According to Guangxi Airport Management Group, it will focus on opening up more flight routes to develop aviation economy facilitate air traffic in Guangxi.

Hechi Jinchengjiang Airport (IATA: HCJ) is built on the Jiantang Mountain at an elevation of 675 meters. The airport will have one runway that is 2,200 meters long and 45 meters wide that can handle 3 flights an hour, compared to 60 flights for some of China's busiest airports. The terminal building is 4,200 square meter.
