Reducing portion sizes could help restaurants, pubs and fast food vendors in the UK cut down on food waste and over £720 million per year, according to new research from the Waste and Resource Action Programme (WRAP).
Research into consumer's attitudes and behaviour around food waste when they eat out found that over half of customers leave food uneaten because portion sizes are too big or we've ordered too much.
According to WRAP the research offering greater choices, different portion sizes and meeting customer expectations offered significant opportunity for the sector to save money and reduce waste.
