Marriott named by BusinessWeek as one of the "Best Places to Launch a Career" -

The publication ranks companies based on three extensive surveys completed by students, college career counselors, and employers. Companies were selected based on opportunities that offer the biggest advantages for interns and entry-level employees in the areas of training, competitive compensation and benefits, and career development programs.

Marriott, the only publicly-traded lodging company on the list, was highlighted for its excellent training programs. Associates average 78 hours of training and 34 hours of professional development each year.

"Finding and engaging the very best talent is the most important thing we do to ensure Marriott's continued success," said David Rodriguez, executive vice president of global human resources. "It is our associates who drive the significant growth of our company, and we take great pride in creating a work environment that develops their leadership skills and provides considerable growth opportunities for them."

Nawfal Bendefa, a 30-year-old vice president for International Project Finance and Asset Management, said, "Marriott believes in and encourages talent development and training, which is precisely the kind of opportunity a young, career-driven graduate like me aspires to. There is a strong culture of mentoring as well that allowed me to focus my career efforts and advance rapidly."

The list is featured in the September 24 issue of BusinessWeek. For the complete rankings, please go to www.business.com
