World-renowned property offers breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and Lake Yamanaka and joins RIGHA Royal Hotel Osaka and The Windsor Hotel TOYA in unique brand portfolio.

IHG Hotels & Resorts announces a landmark partnership with FUJI KYUKO Co., Ltd to transform the iconic Hotel Mount Fuji into the third Vignette Collection property in Japan.

Originally opened in 1963, the 150-room hotel is perched atop Mount Odeyama at an elevation of 1,100 metres, offering breathtaking, uninterrupted views of Mount Fuji – the country’s tallest and most sacred peak. Overlooking Lake Yamanaka, the property is famous for its unique location and rich heritage as a hotel specifically built for viewing Mount Fuji.

Hotel Mount Fuji will undergo extensive renovation before reopening as Hotel Mount Fuji, Vignette Collection. It will join two other celebrated properties – RIGHA Royal Hotel Osaka and The Windsor Hotel TOYA – within Vignette Collection’s growing portfolio in Japan, contributing to the brand’s global footprint of more than 79 open and pipeline hotels.

Abhijay Sandilya, Managing Director, Japan & Micronesia, IHG Hotels & Resorts and CEO of IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan, said: “We’re delighted to partner with FUJI KYUKO Co., Ltd for the first time, to introduce a third iconic hotel in Japan to our Vignette Collection brand. Hotel Mount Fuji is a very special destination – a one-of-a-kind property steeped in history, in a stunning and unique location where guests experience never-to-be-forgotten stays.

“Our collaboration marks a significant milestone in the expansion of IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Japan. Through our global enterprise, including our award-winning IHG One Rewards loyalty programme, we can’t wait to introduce new audiences to this extraordinary property when it reopens as Hotel Mount Fuji, Vignette Collection.”

Koichiro Horiuchi, President and Representative Director, FUJI KYUKO Co., Ltd, commented: “Hotel Mount Fuji is a truly iconic property, originally opened 63 years ago as Japan’s pioneering vacation hotel. Over the decades, it has earned a distinguished reputation for providing guests with exceptional experiences amid the awe-inspiring beauty of Mount Fuji.
“Now, in partnership with IHG, we are excited to write a new chapter as Hotel Mount Fuji, Vignette Collection. Following its extensive renovation, we’re looking forward to sharing its distinctive charm and stunning natural surroundings with a wider group of domestic and international travellers.”

Guests at Hotel Mount Fuji, Vignette Collection can enjoy the natural beauty of the Fuji Five Lakes region all year round. The hotel will feature a variety of dining options, on-site hot springs, a sauna, swimming pool, and easy access to nearby activities including golf, lake cruises, and visits to local attractions such as Oshino Hakkai, the World Heritage site.

Thanks to its elevated location, visitors may also enjoy an evening’s star gazing and, during certain seasons, witness the mesmerising “sea of clouds” – a natural phenomenon where fog blankets the ground, creating the illusion that the hotel is floating.

Hotel Mount Fuji, Vignette Collection is easily accessible by car, approximately two hours from Tokyo. Visitors may also travel by bus, taking 2 hours 20 minutes from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal, and met by a hotel shuttle service.
