Not the urgency of Monday, nor the celebration of Friday, but something quieter, more intentional; A moment to reset, reflect, and realign.
For me, this Sunday reset wasn’t about stepping away from the work, it was about stepping deeper into it.
This week, I had the privilege of spending time with Xander Bueno de Mesquita , someone who embodies a rare combination: a true visionary and an unapologetic doer, introduced to me by another visionary Sarah Luiz.
Xander is the founding force behind Treating Life Well, a philosophy rooted in the intersection of Circularity, Place-Making, and Hospitality. It’s a powerful framework that reimagines how we, as humans, interact with the world, shifting from systems of waste and isolation toward ones that generate energy, connection, and long-term value.
But what makes Xander stand out is not just the thinking, it’s the execution.
Xander Bueno de Mesquita & Jeroen Gulickx
He initiated and developed the QO Hotel Amsterdam, widely recognized as one of Europe’s most sustainable hotels and the first to achieve LEED Platinum certification as a Living Building. By actively closing the loops of water, energy, CO2, and waste, he has shown that respect for people and planet can go hand in hand, without compromising comfort, elegance, or community.
And he’s not slowing down, and his inspiration won’t give you a chance to do so!
Together with a diverse, highly experienced team, Xander is now shaping a new regenerative hospitality project along the Mira River in Portugal: Epona. A place designed not just to exist within its environment, but to actively contribute to it, and to the people it serves.
Those conversations stayed with me.
In a world where many ideas remain concepts, meeting people who execute, who build, test, refine, and persist, has a grounding effect. It sharpens your own thinking. It forces you to ask better questions:
Are we moving fast enough? Are we thinking bold enough? Are we actually doing what we say we want to do?
At Mocinno International Hospitality Group , this mindset is core to everything we build. Vision without execution is just noise. Execution without vision is just motion. The real magic happens when both come together; consistently.
That’s what this Sunday reset is about for me.
Not switching off, but tuning in. Not slowing down, but focusing forward.
