Newly-appointed Maldivian President Mohamed Waheed Hassan assured media that despite political crisis, no tourists have been affected.

Maldives President Mohamed Waheed Hassan was quoted in eTurbo News as having said that all nationals coming to the Maldives are safe. Hassan added that all government offices including police stations and schools are open and all island resorts are safer in Maldives.

President Waheed’s assurance came amidst travel advisories on the Maldives that have been issued by Australia, Britain, Germany, and the United States. China has advised Chinese tourists to take caution when travelling to the Maldives. Chinese tourists account for 25% of foreign visitors to the Maldives.
