The summit was opened in Frankfurt which is expected to give a boost to the bilateral relations, especially in the economic domains.
The three-day annual event concluded on May 10.
The summit took place against the backdrop of the highly-dynamic economic relations between the UAE and Germany in general and Dubai in particular.
The department was an official partner of the summit and shared an information and service stand with the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (JAFZA).
The DTCM Director General, Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem, said the participation in this summit was part of the efforts to utilize different opportunities to promote and market Dubai as an ideal business and tourism hub. It also reflects our support and coordination with other government organisations to promote Dubai ’s strengths and opportunities to the outside world.
The bilateral trade between Germany and the UAE has been growing stronger each passing year. In 2006, exports from Germany to the UAE totalled to 5.4 billion Euro (AED26.9 billion).
The imports from the UAE to Germany stood at 462 million Euro (AED2.3 billion), a 20 per cent increase in both cases compared to the previous year.
In Dubai alone more than 550 German companies are represented, amongst them all important German business branches with their major brands. |
