How attractive are Asia Pacific's cities to international retailers?

Global retailers are still cautiously entering into new markets, but are the diverse retail landscapes across Asia Pacific still at the forefront of their expansion strategies? 

JLL’s Destination Retail 2016 reveals the drivers, opportunities and barriers for international retailer expansions. Examining the expansion trends of over 200 top international brands around the world, the report also includes the widely-anticipated Global Cross-Border Retail Attractiveness Index. Download the report to see where Asia Pacific’s cities ranked. 

Key highlights

Hong Kong, Paris, Dubai and New York join London at the forefront of international retailing. Major global cities remain the epitome of resilience whilst Asia Pacific and the Middle East’s major cities have seen the biggest influx of international retailers.

Hong Kong’s Sai Yeung Choi Street demands the second highest rents globally. Shanghai, Beijing and Bangkok are the region’s highest-growth cities for international retailer expansion.

Hong Kong:

  • Top ranked city in Asia Pacific
  • Mainland China  contributes to 1/3 of total sales
