$200 million redevelopment of iconic old post office includes 270 luxury guestrooms and suites and more; the property's transformation is scheduled to be complete in 2016, when it will become the newest addition to the rapidly growing Trump Hotel Collection.

This morning, Donald J. Trump, president and chairman of The Trump Organization, and Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump, executive vice presidents of development and acquisitions, broke ground on Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C., the company's $200 million redevelopment of The Old Post Office.  Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, Mayor Vincent Gray, Muriel Bowser, Councilmember, Ward 4, Council of the District of Columbia, and Norman Dong, Commissioner of the Public Buildings Service for the United States General Services Administration, joined the Trump family to celebrate the occasion.

"We are absolutely thrilled to break ground today on what will be, in the very near future,  one of the finest hotels anywhere in the world—Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C. Throughout the next two years, we will work to restore this magnificent building to even well beyond its original grandeur," said Donald J. Trump.  "The 270 guestrooms and suites, many with 16-foot ceilings, will be the largest of any luxury hotel in D.C. Likewise, our ballroom, meeting and event space will be the most luxurious of its kind on the east coast and our Presidential Suites will be the best worldwide. It is my intention to do something really special for our capital—and it will be completed prior to November of 2016—a very special date!"

Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C. will feature 270 richly furnished guestrooms, averaging more than 600 square feet, making them the largest in Washington, D.C., with lofty 16-foot ceilings, soaring windows, beautifully restored historic millwork, and glittering crystal sconces and chandeliers.  In addition, two extraordinary Presidential Suites will be located in the historic former offices of the Postmaster General.  At 3,500 and 5,000 square feet, the three-bedroom suites will be among the largest in the country.  The suites will feature:  an oversized master bedroom suite with windows on three exposures offering views of The Capitol and The Washington Monument; a formal dining room with original fireplace; a pantry/kitchen for use by dignitaries during extended stays; a service entry; walk-in closets; exercise room; and a two-person shower and steam room.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to redevelop one of this country's most historic buildings and we will spare no effort to ensure that the hotel, once completed, lives up to the legacy and integrity of this iconic landmark," explained Ivanka Trump.  "Our commitment to historic preservation and long history of redeveloping landmark properties is reflected in our design approach, which is inspired by the legacy of this great structure and executed in a manner that captures the sophistication and luxury of our brand."

Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C. will offer a total of 36,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including the opulent 13,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom, the largest among D.C.'s luxury hotels.  Beautiful, timeless and luxurious, the Grand Ballroom will capture the Trump brand's elegance and detailing, with classical motifs with European influences, and be suited for a variety of meetings, conferences, weddings and social events.

Trump Hotel Collection will reinstate the 11th Street entrance on Pennsylvania Avenue, which will serve as the driveway to the hotel's canopied grand entrance.  The property's ground level will include world-class restaurants and luxury retailers located at both corners of the building on Pennsylvania Avenue.  Guests of Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C. will also experience a 5,000 square-foot super luxury spa and state-of-the-art fitness center.

In February 2012, Trump Hotel Collection was selected by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) as the developer of The Old Post Office in the most sought-after hotel redevelopment opportunity in the country.  The selection was based on the strength of the Trump development team, financial wherewithal, vision for the property, long-term impact on the local community, and dedication to the preservation of the historic structure.
